Please join us online for our family religious education class on Sunday (21 March 2021) at 1:00 PM via Zoom.

The Zoom link will be available on the All Souls Slack and on the All Souls Religious Education Facebook Group.

In our continuing theme of learning how to live into the Eighth Principle, we will read the book Not My Idea:  A Book About Whiteness by Anastasia Higginbotham.

That should give us plenty to talk about.

We will also take some time to reconnect and play some games.

Online Adult Religious Education — 21 March 2021

Please join us on Sunday (21 March 2021) at 9:00 AM for our adult religious education class via Zoom.

What Now? Living the 8th Principle: Revisiting Covenant with Susan Caldwell and Barbara Deger.

In December 2020, we celebrated our congregational ratification of the Eighth Principle.  We noted at the time that the language of this principle holds us accountable to the work of dismantling systemic racism and white supremacy culture.

This Sunday, we will take a look at our congregational covenant of right relations.

In many ways, it’s an excellent covenant created through a thoughtful and thorough process facilitated by thoughtful and thorough people.

We have no need to scrap it — but as always — we don’t know what we don’t know.

Our goal here is to look at our covenant through an anti-racist lens, and see where our language may have unintentionally upheld white supremacy culture.

This is how we “honor the intent, own the impact.”

Beginning on Sunday, 28 March 2021, we will begin a study of the book White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo.

Susan Caldwell will be ordering books for the class for all who request them and is happy to include you in the order whether you attend the class or do not attend (of course we’d love for you to attend the class).

Online Religious Education for Children (14 March 2021)

Please join us online for our family religious education class on Sunday (14 March 2021) at 1:00 PM via Zoom.  The Zoom link will be available on the All Souls Slack and on the All Souls Religious Education Facebook Group.

Today, we will talk about the kinds of things we can do as a church and as individuals to live into our 8th Principle.

We will think about times when someone may have misjudged us without knowing us and how harmful that can be when whole groups of people have wrong ideas about other group of people (especially when they have acted on those wrong ideas for generations).

Contact Susan Caldwell by email if you have any questions.

Online Adult Religious Education — 14 March 2021

Please join us on Sunday (14 March 2021) at 9:00 AM for our adult religious education class via Zoom.

What Now? Living the 8th Principle with Susan Caldwell and Barbara Deger — In December 2020, we celebrated our congregational ratification of the Eighth Principle of Unitarian Universalism.

We noted at the time that the language of this principle holds us accountable to the work of dismantling systemic racism and white supremacy culture.

Susan and Barbara attended the New Day Rising workshop on 28 February 2021 and want to share some ideas from the conference for next steps we can take with the Eighth Principle.
