{"id":13677,"date":"2024-01-06T22:37:06","date_gmt":"2024-01-07T04:37:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/allsoulsshreveport.org\/site\/?p=13677"},"modified":"2024-01-06T22:37:06","modified_gmt":"2024-01-07T04:37:06","slug":"volunteers-for-youth-justice-january-2024-give-away-the-plate-recipient","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allsoulsshreveport.org\/site\/2024\/01\/06\/volunteers-for-youth-justice-january-2024-give-away-the-plate-recipient\/","title":{"rendered":"Volunteers for Youth Justice &#8212; January 2024 Give-Away-The-Plate Recipient"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vyjla.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13679 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/allsoulsshreveport.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/VolunteersForYouthJustice.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1093\" height=\"627\" srcset=\"https:\/\/allsoulsshreveport.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/VolunteersForYouthJustice.png 1093w, https:\/\/allsoulsshreveport.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/VolunteersForYouthJustice-300x172.png 300w, https:\/\/allsoulsshreveport.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/VolunteersForYouthJustice-1024x587.png 1024w, https:\/\/allsoulsshreveport.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/VolunteersForYouthJustice-768x441.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/a>Each month we dedicate all of our non-pledge income to an organization doing the work that best embodies our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uua.org\/beliefs\/what-we-believe\/principles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unitarian Universalist principles and values<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For the month of January 2024, we choose <a href=\"https:\/\/vyjla.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Volunteers for Youth Justice (VYJ)<\/a> and we will purchase our annual sponsorship of their <a href=\"https:\/\/gumbogladiators.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gumbo Gladiators<\/a> competition through our give-away-the-plate contributions.<\/p>\n<p>The mission of VYJ is to create a community of caring around children, youth, and families in crisis.\u00a0 They approach the issue from many angles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vyjla.org\/casa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CASA Program<\/a> (Court Appointed Special Advocates for children and youth in the foster system)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vyjla.org\/tasc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Truancy Assistance Program<\/a> (assessing problems of school attendance early in children in K-5)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vyjla.org\/fins-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FINS Program<\/a> (Families in Need of Services which takes a whole-family approach)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vyjla.org\/tbri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trust Based Relational Intervention Program<\/a> practiced in youth, adult, and correctional settings<\/li>\n<li>Other programs for youth including <a href=\"https:\/\/vyjla.org\/jump-start\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jump Start<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/vyjla.org\/gems-gents-youth-mentoring\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gems and Gents Youth Mentoring<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/vyjla.org\/conflict-resolution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Conflict Resolution<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/vyjla.org\/teen-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Teen Court<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Two ways to donate:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Online<\/strong> &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/allsoulsuu.breezechms.com\/give\/online\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Go to our donation site using this link<\/a>.\u00a0 If you are paying your pledge, select &#8220;2023 Pledges&#8221; and enter that amount for your pledge contribution.\u00a0 Then select &#8220;Collection Plate&#8221; to give the amount you would like to give to Volunteers for Youth Justice and then put &#8220;GATP JAN 2024&#8221; or &#8220;Volunteers for Youth Justice&#8221; in the comment section.\u00a0 All online collection plate contributions for the month of January 2024 will go to Volunteers for Youth Justice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Offline<\/strong> &#8212; Please send your give away the plate contribution checks to All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 9449 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport LA\u00a0 71106.\u00a0 Please put &#8220;Volunteers for Youth Justice&#8221; on the memo line of the check if\u00a0 you want to have 100% of your check go to Volunteers for Youth Justice.\u00a0 If you want less than 100% of your check to go to Volunteers for Youth Justice, please put the amount you want going to Volunteers for Youth Justice on the memo line.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Each month we dedicate all of our non-pledge income to an organization doing the work that best embodies our Unitarian Universalist principles and values.
