Whether within the our Unitarian Universalist principles<\/a> or the newly-adopted values with love at the center<\/a>, interdependence is a vital part of who we are as Unitarian Universalists because it’s a vital part of who we are as human beings.<\/p>\n

There is no doubt that we need to maintain and strengthen the close ties in our lives — the networks that help us to keep siding with love in the face of relentless injustice.<\/p>\n

To quote the Rev. Julian Jamaica Soto:<\/p>\n

“All of us need all of us to make it.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This morning Barbara Deger will share with us some recent research revealing that developing and strengthening our not-so-close ties may also be beneficial, to our own mental health and to the fabric of society.<\/p>\n

We will be meeting in the sanctuary for this worship service.\u00a0 Please join us in person at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 9449 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport LA\u00a0 71106<\/a>\u00a0if you are able to do so.<\/p>\n

Our service will also be livestreamed on Facebook Live here if you cannot attend in person<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The COVID risks for Caddo, Bossier and De Soto Parishes (the Shreveport metro area) are all low as of 16 May 2024 according to the COVIDActNow website<\/a> (no updates since then on this website).\u00a0 These parishes are also reported as “low” on the CDC’s COVID CountyCheck website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additional data can be found on the Louisiana Department of Health’s respiratory virus dashboard web page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The CDC does not recommend mandatory masking for all indoor events in “low” risk areas.<\/p>\n

Starting on 13 November 2022,\u00a0masks will be optional indoors at All Souls.<\/p>\n

Anyone who prefers to keep wearing a mask is welcome to do so and attending worship through livestream video is also an option.<\/p>\n

We will still have KN95 masks available in the foyer for anyone who needs one.<\/p>\n

We continue to recommend that you stay home if you have any symptoms, and that you keep up with all available vaccinations and boosters.<\/p>\n

We no longer require proof of vaccination against COVID for all attendees ages 11 and up for indoor events.<\/p>\n

However, we do strongly encourage that anyone attending our worship services or other indoor events at All Souls be vaccinated against COVID.<\/p>\n

If you are recovering from COVID and have no symptoms, you should mask in public until you have tested negative twice in a 48 hour period.<\/p>\n

We also ask that you go by the previous CDC guidelines of waiting at least 5 days past the onset of symptoms rather than the current 24 hour recommendation.<\/p>\n

And of course — if you have symptoms (COVID or other respiratory illness) — please stay home and take care of yourself.<\/p>\n
