Once a year at All Souls, we devote an entire worship service to a celebration of the arts.\u00a0 This year we have this celebration on 5 August 2012.<\/p>\n
Each element of the entire 11:00 AM Worship Service is some kind of artistic performance by our members and friends — which in the past has included songs, instrumental music, performance art, magic, poetry, mime, dance and even karate!<\/p>\n
Performance is by invitation and we do give priority to members.\u00a0 But many friends have joined us in this celebration as well so if you are invited to perform and we hope you will honor us with an acceptance.\u00a0 And if you are not invited this year, please know that it doesn’t mean you won’t be asked back for future events.\u00a0 We try to present an inspiring and uplifting service that is also respectful of everyone’s time, and we have the happy blessing of an abundance of talent among our artistic community.<\/p>\n
The service itself runs about an hour and a half.<\/p>\n
The Artist Sunday celebration also features a visual arts display and sale in our Religious Education wing, beginning from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM and then after the worship service until 2:00 PM.<\/p>\n
We have about a dozen tables available for displaying small craft items, and a long hallway to hang paintings and photography (limit three for non-members).\u00a0 The church does not ask for fees or commissions – this event is for the artists – but does not handle sales either.<\/p>\n
We are an open-minded and accepting community.\u00a0 In that spirit, we do ask that in selecting your pieces for display and\/or sale, you consider that ours is a family audience, and we very much prefer that you exercise that judgment at your end.\u00a0 Artwork must be delivered the day before the show, so it can be hung for the 10:00 AM opening.\u00a0 If you have questions, contact Pamela Raintree at 946-0367 or Susan Caldwell at 318-465-3427.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
