{"id":3473,"date":"2014-05-16T23:03:33","date_gmt":"2014-05-17T04:03:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/allsoulsshreveport.org\/site\/?p=3473"},"modified":"2014-05-16T23:03:33","modified_gmt":"2014-05-17T04:03:33","slug":"18-may-2014-religious-education-for-all-ages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allsoulsshreveport.org\/site\/2014\/05\/16\/18-may-2014-religious-education-for-all-ages\/","title":{"rendered":"18 May 2014 Religious Education for All Ages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Please join us on Sunday (18 May 2014) at 9:00 AM for our all-ages religious education hour.<\/p>\n<p>The adult\u00a0class will continue a series of Civic Academies from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.industrialareasfoundation.org\/organizations\/together-louisiana\" target=\"_blank\">Together Louisiana<\/a>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nacli.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Northern and Central Louisiana Interfaith<\/a>\u00a0belongs to\u00a0this statewide organization).<\/p>\n<p>The children and youth continue their pillar on personal spiritual growth:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pre-K\/K-1<\/strong> &#8212; The pillar theme explores our emotions. \u00a0The lesson theme is fear. \u00a0In a safe, non-threatening environment, the children will have a chance to talk about things that are scary, and how they might ease those fears and feel safe. \u00a0They will make &#8220;monster puppets&#8221; to help bring their fears down to size.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2nd-5th Grade<\/strong> &#8212; Continuing their focus on prayer, a way of connecting to source in a way that is meaningful for each of us, the class will explore themes of thankfulness and hope.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Middle School\/High School<\/strong> &#8212; Continuing their discussions of the big questions and planning activities for the end of the year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/allsoulsshreveport.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/PaydayLoans.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3475\" src=\"http:\/\/allsoulsshreveport.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/PaydayLoans.jpg\" alt=\"PaydayLoans\" width=\"211\" height=\"238\" \/><\/a>The adult class will explore &#8220;The Fight for Payday Lending Reform in Louisiana.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite widespread support from citizens as well as a majority of clergy and a wealth of civic organizations, meaningful reform of the payday lending industry keeps stalling out in the legislature.<\/p>\n<p>Can you guess why?<\/p>\n<p>Learn how this multi-million dollar industry continues to trap so many of our citizens in an endless spiral of debt, and how we can ultimately reverse that trend, not only legislatively but by educating our population on the alternatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Please join us on Sunday (18 May 2014) at 9:00 AM for our all-ages religious education hour.
