\"NaturesGodBook\"<\/a>Please join us on Sunday (21 December 2014) at 9:30 AM for our Adult Religious Education Class. \u00a0We will be continuing our discussion of\u00a0Nature’s God: \u00a0The Heretical Origins of the American Republic<\/em>\u00a0by Matthew Stewart.<\/p>\n

A very persuasive response to the idea that our country was founded as a “Christian nation,” Stewart’s work takes a close, fresh look at what the founders meant by the words in the Declaration of Independence (“the laws of nature and nature’s God”).<\/p>\n

We will have a 2 more books available if you don’t have one yet. \u00a0We will be discussing Chapter 3 (“Epicurus’s Dangerous Idea”) which will also touch on the life of the 16th century monk Giordano Bruno (that name may sound familiar if you have seen the television series Cosmos<\/em> with Neil Degrasse Tyson).<\/p>\n

Find out what Epicurus, Bruno, and Thomas Jefferson could have possibly had in common.<\/p>\n

The book is also available on both NOOK and Kindle e-readers.<\/p>\n

Nursery Care is provided for the Adult Religious Education Classes\u00a0and during the worship hours.<\/p>\n

Activities for children and youth will be provided during the Adult Religious Education\u00a0hour at 9:30 AM. \u00a0If you have an activity or project you would like to share with a small, multi-age group, or if\u00a0you are simply willing to hang out with them for supervised play, indoors or out, weather permitting, please email Susan Caldwell<\/a> or call her at 318-465-3427.<\/p>\n

Religious Education classes for Children and Youth are offered during the 11:00 AM service. Children and youth attend the first 15-20 minutes of the service, then are dismissed to their classes.<\/p>\n
