You may be familiar with the concept of an “elevator speech<\/a>” — a concise way of explaining something in the time it would take to ride a couple of floors on an elevator.<\/p>\n

For the next three Sundays, we’ll help you come up with one of your own, to talk to others about our Unitarian Universalist faith.<\/p>\n

This is a part of the series Faith Forward: From Visitor to Leader<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

The UU Elevator Speech class will give you the sense of empowerment and ownership that reminds you that you are the church.<\/p>\n

This week — Session 1: “It’s Not a Credo.”<\/p>\n

We know that in our Unitarian Universalist congregation we have a wide variety of beliefs about God (or not god or gods), the Universe, and the great questions of life — all here together under the same roof.<\/p>\n

A credo is a statement reflecting its direct translation from the Latin “I believe” and that will be different for each one of us.\u00a0 Don’t worry — later on we can work on one of those as well.<\/p>\n

At the same time, we do have a common history and a distinct Unitarian Universalist theology that we can share with others.<\/p>\n

Your elevator speech is the story of who we are as a faith tradition, and we can’t wait to hear it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
