On Sunday (23 June 2013) at 11:00 AM, we welcome back to our pulpit Rev. Betty Grace McCollum (Unitarian Universalist minister and Professor at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia AR).
In addition to teaching her classes, Rev. McCollum is the faculty sponsor of the World Religions Club, a group that promotes interfaith understanding and acceptance on campus and has made a pilgrimage to Shreveport’s World Religion Day celebration for the past three years.
Of her sermon, “What is Religion?”, she says, “That is a question I often ask my students on the first day of whatever class I happen to be teaching as part of our philosophy and religious studies minor at Southern Arkansas University. The answers I get are always intriguing, and they give me an insight into how wonderfully open these students are to the less traditional concepts of religion, and how they see the good and bad that is offered to us in today’s world.”
