Dr. Raghunath Misra

RaghunathMisraWe are saddened to report the death of a longtime member of All Souls, Dr. Raghunath P. Misra, who passed away on Thursday, 20 June 2013.  “Raghu” and his wife Therese joined the church in 1978, and have been very supportive of the church and its endeavors ever since.

Dr. Misra had a long, distinguished career as a pathologist at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport where he had been on staff since 1976.

Throughout his life, he maintained a deep personal interest in spiritual matters.  Many of you may remember his recent Member Reflection in March of this year, when he spoke of his connection to his Hindu roots, and of the importance of a place like All Souls as a haven for free religious thought and exploration.

In addition to his wife Therese Misra, he is survived by four daughters, their spouses, and seven grandchildren:  Sima Misra, her husband Chris Siebel and their children, Kiran and Aden; Joya Misra, her husband David Mednicoff and their two children, Amina and Rabi; Maya Misra, her husband Chris Muhlstein and their two children, Thea and Clio, and Tara Misra, her husband Ned Leffingwell, and their daughter Arwyn.

A memorial service is set for Saturday, 29 June 2013, at 10:30 AM at All Souls.  Those who wish to do so may join the family afterward at Indigo (at the corner of Fern Ave. and Bert Kouns Industrial Loop in Shreveport).

Please keep Therese and all the Misra family in your thoughts and prayers.
