If you are interested in teaching religious education during the 2015-2016 church year, please join us on Saturday (22 August 2015) from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Child care, lunch, and snacks will be provided.
Who should come to Teacher Training?
Anyone teaching religious education for children and youth — whether for the first time or the hundredth time — or even thinking you might like to try teaching Religious Education.
If you have been a member or regularly attending friend for six months or longer or even if that 6 month-period will elapse between now and 17 April 2016, you are eligible to be considered for teaching during the 2015-2016 church year.
What is included in the training?
- An overview of our curriculum, the philosophy behind it, and tips on how to use it
- A “Supply Scavenger Hunt” to help you find things in the building
- Tips on classroom management
- An exploration of the spiritual development of children
- Helpful information and interactive activities to illustrate multiple intelligences and learning styles including a chance to find out your own
- A big pack of resources to reinforce what you learn, and to keep for later reference
- A review of basic safety policies and procedures
- Some fun games you can use in the classroom
