Each month we dedicate all of our non-pledge income to an organization doing the work that best embodies our Unitarian Universalist principles and values.
For the month of April 2023, we choose Highland Center Ministries.
As a member congregation of Highland Center Ministries, we designate that organization as our Give Away the Plate recipient twice each year.
Highland Center Ministries is a mosaic of churches and other organizations who join together to provide various ministries in the Highland neighborhood including the Highland Blessing Dinner, clothes closets for all ages, financial services through Pelican State Credit Union that provide low-cost loans and other banking services to keep citizens from falling prey to payday lenders, and free tax preparation services for anyone with an annual income of $55,000 or less.
Two ways to donate:
Online — Go to our donation site using this link. If you are paying your pledge, select “2023 Pledges” and enter that amount for your pledge contribution. Then select “Collection Plate” to give the amount you would like to give to the Home is Here Shreveport and then put “GATP APR 2023” or “HIGHLAND CENTER MINISTRIES” in the comment section. All online collection plate contributions for the month of April 2023 will go to the Highland Center Ministries.
Offline — Please send your give away the plate contribution checks to All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 9449 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport LA 71106. Please put “Highland Center Ministries” on the memo line of the check if you want to have 100% of your check go to Highland Center Ministries. If you want less than 100% of your check to go to Highland Center Ministries, please put the amount you want going to Highland Center Ministries on the memo line.
