Please join us on Saturday (10 January 2015) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church of Shreveport, Louisiana
A home for Unitarian Universalism and liberal religion in Shreveport, Bossier City, and Northwest Louisiana since 1950
Please join us on Sunday (4 January 2015) at 9:30 AM for our Adult Religious Education Class. We will be continuing our discussion of Nature’s God: The Heretical Origins of the American Republic by Matthew Stewart.
A very persuasive response to the idea that our country was founded as a “Christian nation,” Stewart’s work takes a close, fresh look at what the founders meant by the words in the Declaration of Independence (“the laws of nature and nature’s God”).
We have 1 more books available if you don’t have one yet. We will continue discussing Chapter 3 (“Epicurus’s Dangerous Idea”) which will also touch on the life of the 16th century monk Giordano Bruno (that name may sound familiar if you have seen the television series Cosmos with Neil Degrasse Tyson).
Find out what Epicurus, Bruno, and Thomas Jefferson could have possibly had in common.

Please join us at 11:00 AM on Sunday (28 December 2014) for “This I Believe” with Robin Harris, Cherrie Groves Moussaoui, and Juan Villarreal.
Religious Education classes for Children and Youth are offered during the 11:00 AM service. Children and youth attend the first 15-20 minutes of the service, then are dismissed to their classes.
For this Sunday, our children and youth will have a low-key holiday movie day.
There will be no adult religious education classes on Sunday, 28 December 2014 — classes resume Sunday, 4 January 2015.
Please join us for our Christmas Eve Candlelight Worship Service — Wednesday (24 December 2014) at 6:30 PM.
This service is a service of lessons and carols with Rev. Susan Smith
and Rev. Barbara Jarrell. We will also have music from the All Souls Choir under the direction of Robert Smith with guest musicians Sally Horak Hundemer, Elaine Proctor Webb, Thomas Hundemer, and Deborah Scarlato.
Please join us on Sunday (21 December 2014) at 11:00 AM for “Cycles of Transformation: Tending the Seeds of Wisdom and Compassion” by Larry Androes.
On this Winter Solstice, Larry will speak of cycles of change and the skills for being present with change.
Larry is a member of All Souls and has taught the Saturday morning meditation group for more than 25 years.
Because last Sunday’s holiday party was more of a marathon gift-wrapping party, we will also have a real holiday celebration for the kids during the 11:00 AM religious education class time on Sunday (21 December 2014) featuring games, crafts and snacks.
We’ll set up tables with the different activities and if you have a craft or game idea you’d like to share, please let Susan Caldwell know.
