13 August 2017 Worship Service and Summer Fun for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (13 August 2017) at 11:00 AM for “Understanding” by Rev. Barbara Jarrell.

This Sunday’s Summer Fun activity is seed bombs with Cindy Mandarino.  Seed bombs are a creative way to toss a little beauty into places in need of it that might not get regular beautification and care.

Artist Sunday (6 August 2017)

Please join us on Sunday (6 August 2017) at 11:00 AM for Artist Sunday — a celebration of the performing and visual artists among our members and friends.

Artist Sunday is a worship service in which every element of the service is some aspect of the performing arts — singing, instrumental music, poetry, prose, dance, and sometimes even martial arts and magic.

Before and after the service, enjoy a visual art show and sale in the Religious Education wing.

This will be an all-ages worship service — our children and youth will stay in the worship service.

30 July 2017 Worship Service and Summer Fun for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (30 July 2017) at 11:00 AM for “How UUs Say Grace in a Graceless World:  Awful, Amazing, Gritty Grace” by Claudia Harris.

We are delighted to welcome our own Claudia Harris back to the pulpit this Sunday to share her own thoughtful, unique and often humorous perspective on our world in these “interesting times.”

For the final Sunday of the month, we give our non-pledge contributions to a local, regional, or national organization that supports and promotes the values we hold dear and walks that out into the world.

For July, we are excited to tell you that we are giving away the plate to the effort to bring the Our Whole Lives Comprehensive Sexuality Education Program to our entire community — a much-needed supplement to the inadequate abstinence-only program currently offered in our schools.

Thanks to NOW Shreveport – Bossier City (local chapter of the National Organization for Women), we are able to collaborate to make this happen for our youth in the congregation and in the wider community.

This Sunday’s Summer Fun activity is Theater Games with Leigh Anne Chambers.

23 July 2017 Worship Service and Summer Fun for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (23 July 2017) at 11:00 AM for  “Screwtape 2017” by John Allen.

In 1942, C.S. Lewis wrote a satirical novel in the form of letters from a senior demon, Screwtape, to his nephew Wormwood on the ways and means of tempting flawed and often hypocritical humanity away from the faith.

It’s 2017 and Screwtape has returned.  You do not want to miss this service.

Middle and high school youth will remain in the service this morning.

Younger children and nursery tots will enjoy a movie in the High School room with Katie Allen and Grant Upton.

16 July 2017 Worship Service and Summer Fun for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (16 July 2017) at 11:00 AM for “A Damascus Moment” by Rev. Lee Jeter.

Lee is the director of the Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Louisiana and will speak on “A Damascus Moment,” using Acts 9: 3-9 as his text.

Rev. Jeter says:

“We will speak on the change that occurred with Saul on the Damascus Road, and how we need that change today, from the crisis in Flint, to the controversy surrounding removal of the monuments, and other issues affecting our nation and people.”

This week’s summer fun is Rainsticks with Sam Normand.

9 July 2017 Worship Service and Summer Fun for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (9 July 2017) at 11:00 AM for our guest speaker Frances Kelley

A former recipient of the All Souls Emerson Award, Frances is a veteran organizer and activist who led the campaign to stop the open burn at Camp Minden.

Frances has also been a tireless advocate for rights to health care, women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, and multiple environmental concerns.

Melissa Gibson is the Worship Associate, and the All Souls Choir will sing.

This week’s summer fun is Chinet chalices with Renee Burkhalter.

2 July 2017 Worship Service and Summer Fun for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (2 July 2017) at 11:00 AM for “But What Kind of Change?” by Rev. Barbara Jarrell.

Working for change requires us to consider the benefit and impact of that change and for whom.  We welcome Barbara back to the pulpit this morning and the All Souls Choir shall sing.

We will also have new members signing the book along with an installation of our new board officers (and grateful farewell to those whose terms are drawing to a close).

A newcomer information session will follow this service.

This week’s summer fun is Yoga with Robin Drury.

25 June 2017 Worship Service and Summer Fun for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (25 June 2017) at 11:00 AM for “Church of the Orthodox Heretics” by Rev. Mark Christian.

Please join us as we welcome Rev. Mark Christian (Unitarian Universalist minister from Oklahoma City OK) with his own unique perspective on our faith tradition.

Mark is an enlightening and engaging speaker you will not want to miss.

This week’s summer fun is a Color Scavenger Hunt with Sam Normand.
