Please join us on Wednesday (19 October 2016) at 7:00 PM for “Race and the Constitution” with Marjorie Esman (Executive Director, ACLU of Louisiana).
Marjorie Esman says:
The U.S. Constitution has at times been interpreted in ways which propelled forward the cause of racial justice, but as originally drafted, was designed to deprive African Americans of fundamental rights. While civil rights have been expanded by Constitutional amendments and legislation, the legacy of denial persists. With issues of discrimination, profiling, and physical and structural violence still pervading American society, how does the Constitution still serve to deny full racial justice?
The talk is free and open to the public. Please join us.
