On this Sunday (18 January 2026), our children and youth will explore “Love at the Center: Jesus, Gandhi, and MLK” during the 11:00 AM worship service.
As we continue our emphasis on World Religions, the children and youth will look at the ways that Mahatma Gandhi was inspired by the teachings and ministry of Jesus, and how MLK was in turn inspired by Gandhi.
The two men never met but this was a connection across the boundaries of faith, time, and space — MLK even traveled to India to meet people who were part of Gandhi’s movement and to pay tribute to a man he considered his spiritual teacher.
These are the kind of connections that can be life-changing for us as Unitarian Universalists when we take the time to learn about other faiths and connect with those who practice them.
