Children and Youth Religious Education Classes — 12 March 2023

Children and youth will attend the worship service for the first 15-20 minutes and then are dismissed to their classes.

We are now discussing peace, social justice, and the interdependent web and these ideas connect to our Unitarian Universalist faith.

Elementary class with Ash McLain and Kevin Henry — Exploration of “Friends and Enemies” (especially looking at what makes someone a true friend and how seeming enemies can turn out to be friends).

Middle and High School Class with Noah Wagstaff and Teacher TBA — Exploration of Allport’s Ladder of Prejudice (a timeline created by Gordon Allport using the timeline of the Holocaust to show how name calling leads to economic and legislative attacks that lead to physical attacks that ultimately lead to genocide).

We have several persons in the adult religious education class who are new to our faith tradition and others who would like a chance to revisit the principles around that Unitarian Universalist congregations covenant to affirm and promote (including the eighth principle).

We will continue our exploration of the eight principles and how we might live them more fully in our lives and as a congregation.

We will also have a small sneak preview of next week’s session when we will take a look at the current work of the Article II Commission of the UUA and what the principles may look like in the coming years.

If you have questions, email Susan Caldwell or text her with your questions.

26 February 2023 Worship Livestreaming Video

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, we have begun to broadcast a livestream video of our Sunday morning worship services.

This worship video will be available live and in recorded formats.

For our livestream video of our worship services, we are using Facebook Live.  One does not have to log into Facebook or have a Facebook account to view this video.

You can find the 26 February 2023 worship video here.

Please note that this video recording is not a complete recording of the worship service — the church’s internet quit working in the middle of this worship service.

All Ages Worship (26 February 2023)

Please join us on Sunday (26 February 2023) at 11:00 AM for “Who Are You in the Story?  Drawing Wisdom from the World’s Religions”
with the children, youth, and adults of All Souls.

We will be meeting in the sanctuary for this worship service.  Please join us in person at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 9449 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport LA  71106 if you are able to do so.

Our service will also be livestreamed on Facebook Live here if you cannot attend in person.

The current COVID risk for the Shreveport metro area (Caddo Parish, Bossier Parish, DeSoto Parish) is now “low” and the CDC does not recommend mandatory masking for all indoor events in “low” risk areas.

See the CDC website and the COVIDActNow website for more details.

Starting on 13 November 2022, masks will be optional indoors at All Souls.

Anyone who prefers to keep wearing a mask is welcome to do so and attending worship through livestream video is also an option.

We will still have KN95 masks available in the foyer for anyone who needs one.

We continue to recommend that you stay home if you have any symptoms, and that you keep up with all available vaccinations and boosters.

Please use this link to evaluate the current COVID risk for the Shreveport-Bossier City metro area as you make your decisions regarding masking and other COVID preventive measures while attending All Souls.

We no longer require proof of vaccination against COVID for all attendees ages 11 and up for indoor events.

However, we do strongly encourage that anyone attending our worship services or other indoor events at All Souls be vaccinated against COVID.

Please use good judgment and stay home if you have any symptoms.  Even those who have tested negative for COVID can later test positive.

Our February 2023 give-away-the-plate recipient is the Whitney Plantation Museum.

And you can contribute to All Souls using this online resource.
