BeFairShreveport[From Adrienne Critcher, PACE Louisiana Political Director]

The Shreveport City Council will vote on whether you can be fired, denied housing, or public services this Tuesday (10 December 2013) at their 3:00 PM meeting. SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE SHREVEPORT FAIRNESS ORDINANCE!!! Here’s what you need to know and do:

The Shreveport City Council will be voting on a “private ENDA” on Tuesday, 10 December 2013!! This ordinance would protect people from discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity at work, when they’re buying or renting a home, and in public accommodations like hotels and libraries. Show your support:

  • Attend the vote at the 3:00 PM Tuesday (10 December 2013) meeting in the 1st floor Chamber of Government Plaza, 505 Travis Street. Arrive by 2:30 PM if possible. Come later if you need to—we don’t know what time the vote will take place. Wear a white shirt. 2-hour metered parking on surrounding streets until 5:00 PM; free afterwards. $3 parking lot on the corner of Common and Travis.
  • If you live or work in Shreveport, send a message to the Shreveport City Council asking for their support via this Action Alert.
  • If you live in Shreveport, sign this online letter of support that will be presented to the City Council.

No one should have to live in fear that they can lose their home, be evicted from their apartment, or denied a mortgage simply because of who they are or who they love. Please share this with your family and friends and ask them for their support as well. Easy to remember: All this information can be found by going to the PACE web site: pacelouisiana.org.
