This comes from Adrienne Critcher (PACE Political Director):
HELP STOP REPEAL ATTEMPT OF SHREVEPORT FAIRNESS ORDINANCE!
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED! On Tuesday (14 January 2014), the Shreveport City Council will vote on an ordinance that would legalize discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
The Shreveport Fairness Ordinance prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity just passed overwhelmingly by 6-1 on 10 December 2013 and now — the lone dissenting voter — Ron Webb is immediately trying to get it repealed. The repeal will be voted on 14 January 2014.
Please do 2 things:
- Attend the City Council meeting (3:00 PM, 14 January 2014, 505 Travis Street, Shreveport LA). The Facebook event is here.
- Please contact the City Council to ask them to continue to support the Shreveport Fairness Ordinance by voting against its repeal. Ask them to vote against Ron Webb’s attempt to legalize discrimination! Be positive–passage of the Fairness Ordinance got national attention branding Shreveport as forward-looking and welcoming to all! Thank the City Council for its overwhelming support of the ordinance and ask them to reject the repeal. Email the entire city council (council@shreveportla.gov) or email just the 6 council members who voted for the Fairness Ordinance:
