Building and Grounds Work Day — 21 October 2017

Please join us on Saturday (21 October 2017) for our monthly building and grounds work day.  We will be there from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Beyond basic mowing and cleaning, all of the work of maintaining our building and grounds is done by us — the members and friends of All Souls who volunteer every month.

Come join your church friends and get to know them better as you work side by side to spruce up our church home.

Weather permitting, there are tasks indoors and out, for all ages and levels of ability.

15 October 2017 Worship Service and Religious Education for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (15 October 2017) at 11:00 AM for  “They Left Me for Dead” by Mr. Lynn Cawthorne.

We are pleased to welcome Caddo Parish Commissioner Lynn Cawthorne to our pulpit this Sunday morning.

In the Christian Testament story of “The Good Samaritan,” a traveler on the Jericho road is left for dead by a priest and a Levite (both men of high standing) until he is saved by one known to him as “other” — a Samaritan.

Who are the people who are “left for dead” in the present day?  Please join us to welcome Mr. Cawthorne.

Religious education classes for children and youth are offered during the 11:00 AM service.

Children and youth attend the first 15-20 minutes of the service and then are dismissed to class.

Adult Religious Education — 15 October 2017

Please join us on Sunday (15 October 2017) at 9:15 AM for our adult religious education class.  Following on the heels of reading of Waking Up White by Debby Irving, we will discuss A Class Divided (the documentary screened in our class last Sunday).

This is a 1985 documentary on the reunion of an all-white third grade class that learned a valuable lesson about racism with the widely known and praised experiment pitting the “Blue eyes” against the “Brown eyes.”

The first class where teacher Jane Elliott performed the experiment was in 1968, right after the assassination of Martin Luther King.  This film was made with her class in 1970.

8 October 2017 Worship Service and Religious Education for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (8 October 2017) at 11:00 AM for “Not an Occasional Act” by Rev. Barbara Jarrell.

This service in the sanctuary concludes with a ceremony outdoors for releasing regret and all that no longer serves us.

We will have a newcomer session following the service for all interested persons.  At this session, you are invited to watch a video, ask questions, and learn more about our faith as we learn more about you (as you are comfortable sharing with us).
