Adult Religious Education — 21 October 2018

Please join us on Sunday (21 October 2018) at 9:15 AM for our adult religious education class.

This fall, we’re excited to introduce Faith Forward — a multi-part adult religious education series that will not only introduce visitors and new members to our faith but will also help those who’ve been here awhile to deepen their faith journeys.

This morning, we continue with Session 6 of UU History 101 — “A Question of Calling.”

We’ll look at the roles of two figures in our recent history:

  • Lucile Schuck Longview — responsible for many of the corrections of sexist language in our principles and hymnals along with other steps forward for feminists in our movement
  • Rev. Bill Sinkford — former President of the UUA, who called us to find and embrace our own “language of reverence” as we create a faith to sustain us through the harsher realities of life.

Child care will be provided — See you then.

14 October 2018 Worship Service and Religious Education for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (14 October 2018) at 11:00 AM for “This I Believe” with Rebecca Tuggle, Kevin Henry, and Tena Hines.  John Allen will be our worship associate.

Three All Souls members will speak about the foundational principles that guide their lives today and the continuing journey that has brought them here thus far.

#RONFEST2018 continues in this service and in a brief celebration afterward.  We celebrate the service that Ron Thurston has provided to All Souls as we bid him farewell.

Our “Give Away the Plate” recipient for October 2019 is Noel United Methodist Church Food Pantry.

Religious education classes for children and youth are offered during the 11:00 AM service.  Children and youth attend the first 15-20 minutes of the service and then are dismissed to class.

Building and Grounds Work Day (13 October 2018)

Please join us on Saturday (13 October 2018) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

Most of the work of maintaining our spiritual home is done by the members and friends of All Souls.

We have tasks for all ages and abilities — indoors and out.

One of the best ways to build community with your All Souls friends is to work side by side sprucing up our church home.

Come for the whole time or just for a little while — or if you can’t stay, consider dropping off some snacks for the crew.

We appreciate any and all efforts to help — hope to see you Saturday!

7 October 2018 Blessing of the Animals All-Ages Worship Service

Please join us on Sunday (7 October 2018) at 11:00 AM for “The Soul of Animals” — our Blessing of the Animals worship service for 2018 — presented by Cherrie Groves-Moussaoui, Pepper Lumina, and Susan Caldwell.

Our annual service in celebration of the animal companions who share our home in the interdependent web of all existence.

Bring all your family members — the furry, feathered, and finned, the slinky, and the slithering — to join us in the sanctuary and worship together.

Please do bring your pets either on a leash or in a carrier, as even the most docile animals can be unpredictable in new situations.

For this Sunday, nursery care will be provided for the smallest children and the rest of our children and youth will be with us in the sanctuary to bless the animals.

Our Give Away the Plate recipient for October 2018 is Noel United Methodist Church Food Pantry.

Give Away the Plate for October 2019

Our “Give Away the Plate” recipient for October 2018 is the Noel United Methodist Church Food Pantry.

We have changed the way we do our Give Away the Plate donations each month.

Instead of taking up just one collection per month, we are giving half of our non-pledge income each week to one organization for the entire month.

This month’s recipient is Noel United Methodist Church Food Pantry. Here is a description from their website:

What: Noel has the largest food pantry in Northwest Louisiana giving out over 10,000 bags of food every year to people in need in Caddo Parish. The Food Pantry is operated by Director Susan Foster and over 100 volunteers from Noel and various churches of all denominations, including our own JoDel Adkins.
Other services offered include “Start-up” Kits for those who have experienced a recent house fire.

When: Monday-Thursday from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM.

Where: The Food Pantry is located at Noel United Methodist Church, 520 Herndon Street, Shreveport LA  71101.
