Poinsettias for the Sanctuary

It’s that time of year again.  Soon the sanctuary will be decorated with beautiful poinsettias for the holiday season and you have an opportunity to purchase one or more as a way to honor or memorialize a person, event or cause that is dear to your heart.

Give a donation of your choice ($10.00 suggested to cover costs) and fill out the form in your Order of Service with the dedication as you would like it to appear in the 18 December 2011 and Christmas Eve Orders of Service.

Office Volunteers Needed

Our office volunteers are in need of someone (or ideally, several someones) who can be available to substitute for one of our regular volunteers.

Duties involve mostly answering the phone and email and passing along messages as needed; and being present for service people, potential renters viewing the building, and occasional drop-in visitors.

Office hours are 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM Tuesday – Friday.

If interested, call 318-868-3313 or email Virginia Villarreal.

All-Ages Holiday Party — 18 December 2011

After the 11:00 AM Winter Holiday worship service on 18 December 2011, please stick around to enjoy a party for all ages!

Bring some hearty, nutritious finger foods to share, and join in the fun!

Activities will include cookie-decorating, the usual action-packed dreidel table (oh, I suppose you think I’m kidding about “action-packed”?), ornament and gift bag-making, and — of course — giftwrapping the presents for our Angel Tree.

There are numerous ways to help. To offer your assistance or for more information, contact Cherrie Groves.

Many, many thanks to Pam Holt and her spectacular Silent Auction committee for a terrific event last week, to Amanda Lawrence and Debby Magill for coordinating the Thanksgiving Feast, and to Pamela Raintree for a beautiful Sunday afternoon service in honor of Transgender Day of Remembrance.

Bennett, Grant, Mason and Gretchen Upton — November 2011 Volunteers of the Month

The more the merrier they say, and that is certainly true for the November 2001 Volunteers of the Month.

The Council would like to recognize the hard and consistent work of Bennett, Grant, Mason and Gretchen Upton.  They have helped at most every Building and Grounds day as well as being willing to do whatever is asked of them.  Grant helped with the recent Blessing of the Animals. We look forward to working with them on future projects.
