Please join us this Saturday evening (24 September 2022) at 7:00 PM for an in-person screening of the documentary film Slave State.
This is a documentary film inspired by the book Slave State: Evidence of Apartheid in America by Curtis Ray Davis II.
All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church is honored to host a screening of this documentary film.
This is Policy Films first film of this length — produced in collaboration with the non-profit organization Decarcerate Louisiana.
The documentary highlights the grassroots movement by Decarcerate Louisiana to sponsor Louisiana legislation to remove slavery from the state constitution with the help of State Rep. Edmond Jordan of District 29.
A Q and A session with author and activist Curtis Davis will follow the screening.
Come and learn how slavery still exists in Louisiana along with the importance of voting yes on Amendment 7 on 8 November 2022 to abolish slavery in our state.

Please join us on Saturday (10 September 2022) from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.
Since some of our church members will be staffing our table at Pride in the Park, we’re calling all hands to help with our monthly building and grounds work day.
We will prepare to welcome guests for this weekend’s Emerson Award presentation and next week’s Homecoming Service.
Nearly all of the work maintaining our physical space is done by our members and friends who show up each month and do what needs to be done.
Join us on Sunday (18 September 2022) at 11:00 AM for our 2022 Homecoming worship service.
We will recognize member milestones and include a memorial tribute to those we have lost since our last in-person homecoming.
We will have a blessing of the backpacks (sports bags, dance bags, briefcases, gym bags, diaper bags, etc) for all ages.
After the service, we will have a potluck celebration and games for some multigenerational fun.
Email Amanda Lawrence or text her at 318-402-3314 if you can help with setup or cleanup for the potluck.
Join us on Sunday (11 September 2022) at 11:00 AM for the annual presentation of the Ralph Waldo Emerson Award to Kathaleen Pittman (Executive Director of Hope Medical Group for Women).
We honor Kathaleen for her years of service and unyielding dedication to the rights of all people to plan their families as they choose and to seek abortion care as needed.
The Emerson Award is given annually by our congregation to the individual or organization in the wider community whose life and work best exemplify the values and principles of liberal religion.
