18 November 2018 All-Ages Thanksgiving Worship and Feast

Please join us on Sunday (18 November 2018) at 11:00 AM for our annual all-ages Thanksgiving service, communion ritual, and feast — “Finding Gratitude” by Rev. Barbara Jarrell.

As we do each year, we will begin with a shorter service in the sanctuary and then process to the social hall for an inclusive bread and water communion (focused on the community we share and the need to feed the hungry people of the world).

After the ritual, we have a feast that really is our best potluck of the year.

If you don’t cook, no worries.

There are plenty of people who do cook and there are plenty of things we need that you can pick up from the store.

And even if you can’t bring anything, come anyway.  There are plenty of ways you can help with this feast.

Sign up here to let us know what you can bring.

There will be no religious education classes for children and youth today — these classes will resume next Sunday (25 November 2018).

Our “Give Away the Plate” recipient for November 2019 is The Philadelphia Center.

Building and Grounds Work Day (10 November 2018)

Please join us on Saturday (10 November 2018) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

On the second Saturday of each month is our building and grounds work day.

Most of the work on our physical space is done by you — the members and friends of All Souls.

We have tasks available for all ages and all levels of ability.

Stay the whole time or just an hour or so if your day is already full.

If you can’t stay, consider dropping off snacks for the crew.

Give Away the Plate for November 2018

Our “Give Away the Plate” recipient for November 2018 is The Philadelphia Center.  From their website:

The Philadelphia Center developed in the spring of 1990 as concerned citizens responding to the HIV/AIDS epidemic as it spread into the Shreveport area of Louisiana.  Over the past 20 years, The Philadelphia Center has expanded to become the only HIV/AIDS resource center in Region VII.  The Philadelphia Center serves the parishes of Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Claiborne, Bienville, Red River, DeSoto, Sabine, and Natchitoches.

For the month of November 2018, All Souls will donate half of all our non-pledge income to the Philadelphia Center for a sponsorship of their 2019 Resolution Run in January.

No Adult Religious Education Class Today — 28 October 2018

Due to our media sale fundraiser and potluck lunch today, we are not having our 9:15 AM adult religious education class today.

Sleep in a little longer today and then come at 10:00 AM to shop the media sale before the service.

Please pass the word along to any regulars who may not always check their email.

Building and Grounds Work Day (13 October 2018)

Please join us on Saturday (13 October 2018) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

Most of the work of maintaining our spiritual home is done by the members and friends of All Souls.

We have tasks for all ages and abilities — indoors and out.

One of the best ways to build community with your All Souls friends is to work side by side sprucing up our church home.

Come for the whole time or just for a little while — or if you can’t stay, consider dropping off some snacks for the crew.

We appreciate any and all efforts to help — hope to see you Saturday!

Give Away the Plate for October 2019

Our “Give Away the Plate” recipient for October 2018 is the Noel United Methodist Church Food Pantry.

Other services offered include “Start-up” Kits for those who have experienced a recent house fire.

When: Monday-Thursday from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM.

Where: The Food Pantry is located at Noel United Methodist Church, 520 Herndon Street, Shreveport LA  71101.
