Revised Congregational Bylaws (14 December 2014)
At last Sunday’s congregational business meeting (14 December 2014), our members approved several changes to our bylaws. The revised bylaws are now online in PDF format:
22 November 2014 — Special Nature Trail Work Day
Please join us on Saturday (22 November 2014) from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM for a special nature train building and grounds work day.
We will continue to work on refurbishing the beautiful All Souls nature trail. If you are looking for something to do on a Saturday that will help you build community with friends, get you outdoors and moving, and help to restore a treasure right outside or doors, then it’s probably time for a good “RANT” (“Restore All Souls Nature Trail”).

If the weather permits, there will be tasks inside and out for all ages and abilities.

Debate — What Better Explains Morality — Naturalism or Supernaturalism? (4 October 2014)
Chan Hearron and Randall Lord continue their series of debates with the question “What Better Explains Morality — Naturalism or Supernaturalism?”
Please join us at All Souls on Saturday (4 October 2014) at 6:30 PM for this provocative dialogue.
Chan Hearron is a teacher of apologetics at Word of God Academy.
Randall Lord is a local chiropractor and member of Ark-La-Tex Freethinkers.
They have engaged in a series of debates over the years, covering such topics as Gay Marriage, Evolution vs. Creationism, and the Existence of God, among others.
Over the years, they have developed a friendship, and their debates are always conducted in a civil and respectful manner, though never without a sense of fun, as they truly enjoy the give-and-take.
Their commitment to civil dialogue and willingness to build and sustain relationship is a breath of fresh air in the current culture of argument and “who-can-shout-the-loudest-over-the-other.”

All of the mayoral candidates and most of the school board candidates will be there.
As a reminder, Interfaith is a non-partisan organization and this is a non-partisan event — candidates and supporters are asked not to wear, bring, or distribute any campaign apparel, paraphernalia or literature.
If you do so, you will be politely asked to put it back in your car and/or turn your shirt inside out.
Remember, also, that this is different from a forum. Candidates are asked specific questions about whether or not they will work with Interfaith on our agenda of issues, and at the end they are given a short period of time to lay out their vision for Shreveport. They will not take questions from the floor.

Swim Party and Potluck — 17 August 2014
Please join us on Sunday (17 August 2014) after the Sunday worship service for our annual Swim Party and Potluck (12:00-2:30 PM)
The swim party will be at the Home of Laurie Lyons and Henry Walker (441 Drexel Drive, Shreveport LA).
Bring your suits with you to church that day, along with a side dish, appetizer, or dessert to share at our Swim Party and Potluck.
We will have burgers and hot dogs (along with vegetarian versions of both). We’ll also provide water, tea and lemonade.
We’re looking forward to sharing this All Souls End-of-Summer tradition, and many thanks once again to Laurie and Henry for allowing us to have it in such a beautiful setting.
Religious Education Teacher Training — 20 August 2014
Please join us on Wednesday (20 August 2014) from 6:00 – 8:30 PM for religious education teacher training for adults working with children and youth.
If you have been a member or regularly attending friend of All Souls for six months or longer, you are eligible to teach.

New Worship / Religious Education Schedule Starting 24 August 2014
Next Sunday (24 August 2014) — big changes for our Sunday morning schedule.
Worship will start at 11:00 AM. On most Sundays, children and youth will stay in worship for the first 15 to 20 minutes before departing to their religious education classes.
On selected Sundays, we will have all-ages worship where the children and youth remain in the service. When we have all-ages worship, there will be no religious education classes for children and youth.
Adult religious education classes will start back in the Fall after Labor Day — please check our website announcements for these details as they become available.
