Mother’s Day Poetry Service — 14 May 2023

For Mother’s Day 2023, we are featuring a service of poetry and songs — and we want your help.

Whether you are a mom, a poet, a mom/poet, or  you know of a poem or song that your mom (or someone who was like a mom for you) loved, we would love to have you join us and share that at our Mother’s Day worship service (1100 AM on Sunday, 14 May 2023).

Whether you want to read the poem or sing the song yourself or submit it for someone else to read or sing, please email Susan Caldwell by Wednesday (10 May 2023).

Building and Grounds Work Day (Saturday, 13 May 2023)

Our monthly building and grounds work day will happen next Saturday (13 May 2023) from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

We will have tasks available for all ages and abilities — inside and out.

This is a great way to get to know others in your All Souls community while working side by side.  Please come and join us on 13 May 2023.

Zoom (and In-Person) Lunch on Tuesday (9 May 2023)

Please join us next Tuesday (9 May 2023) at 12 noon for our weekly Zoom lunch.

Our weekly Zoom lunch is going dual-platform — join us from home using Zoom or in person in the social hall.

Bring your lunch and meet up with your All Souls friends, have lunch, and just catch up.

Pride in the Park (30 April 2023)

All Souls will be participating in the 2023 Pride in the Park event on Sunday (30 April 2023) from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Columbia Park in Shreveport, Louisiana.

This event has been rescheduled from Saturday to Sunday due to rainy weather forecasted for Saturday.

The setup time for our All Souls booth is 9:30 AM on Sunday.

Susan Caldwell will bring the canopy, brochures, banner, table, chairs, and giveaway items to the site. However, she will need at least 3 other people to help with unloading and setting everything up.

If you can help with this event in any capacity, please text Susan Caldwell to let her know of your availability for this event.

Celebration of the Life of Ken Peterson (Saturday, 29 April 2023)

Please join us for a celebration of the life of Ken Peterson this Saturday (29 April 2023) at 3:30 PM at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church.

There will be a reception and more time for remembrance following this service in the church social hall.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday afternoon to remember and celebrate a life that has touched so many other lives in many ways.

At All Souls, Ken served as greeter, religious education teacher, board member, speaker, and friend to many.

Ken’s impact extended beyond our church to the job he loved (teaching at the LSU Shreveport Medical School), his work with the Boy Scouts, time spent with friends in the Men’s Group, and (in his favorite places of all) any place where he could spend time with his children.

Several members and friends have asked if they can bring food to share at the reception.  The answer is “yes, the family would welcome those contributions.”
