Building and Grounds Work Day — 8 February 2020

Please join us on Saturday (8 February 2020) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

For this month — new thrones for our All Souls royalty!

We have 7 new toilet seats for the bathrooms and we need folks with tools to undertake this most vital of missions.

We also need to clean and sanitize all the tables and chairs in the social hall and classrooms, and anything else we see that needs doing — outside (weather permitting) and inside.

Beyond basic cleaning and yard mowing, all of the work of maintaining our congregation’s physical space falls to us — the members and friends of All Souls.

We have tasks for all ages and abilities and you are welcome to help whether you can stay the entire time or for just an hour or so.

Can’t stay?  Consider dropping off some breakfast or snacks for the work crew.

2020 Pledge Drive

Send in your 2020 pledge form now or bring it to church this Sunday (29 December 2019).

For more than 70 years, All Souls has provided a home for liberal religion in Northwest Louisiana.

The church currently hosts a variety of activities — Sunday services, adult and children’s religious education, Buddhist meditation, yoga, Earth-Based Spirituality, and more.

All Souls is proud to be recognized as a Welcoming Congregation (Unitarian Universalist program for congregations that have done additional study and discernment around issues related to bisexual, gay, lesbian, and transgender equality).

We are also honored and thankful to be the host location for the monthly meetings of Louisiana Trans Advocates (Shreveport Chapter).

Your donation helps maintain and improve All Souls.

Thank you to all who support this congregation with your time, talent, and treasure.

Building and Grounds Work Day — 14 December 2019

Please join us this Saturday (14 December 2019) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

Other than routine cleaning and yard work, the tasks of maintaining the physical space of our congregational home belong to us — the members and friends of All Souls.

We will have tasks for all ages and all levels of ability.

Stay for an hour or two, or the whole time.

If you can’t stay, consider dropping off some snacks or lunch for the crew.

Notice of Congregational Meeting (22 December 2019)

From:  Board of Directors (All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church of Shreveport, Louisiana)

To:  All Members, Inactive Members, and Friends

In accordance with the Bylaws of our church and the Fifth Principle of Unitarian Universalism, we hereby announce that All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church will hold a Congregational Meeting on Sunday (22 December 2019) immediately following the 11:00 AM worship service.

On the Agenda:

  • The 2020 Budget
  • A change to the bylaws regarding membership categories

Please make every effort to attend.

All active members should attend this meeting or give their proxies to those who can.

Inactive members and friends of the church are invited and encouraged to participate but bylaws stipulate that only those members who have been active 30 days or longer may vote.

We must have a quorum — childcare provided.

Rally for Climate Justice (9 November 2019)

Rally for Climate Justice — Saturday, 9 November 2019 — 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM — Caddo Parish Courthouse.

Gretchen Upton and Gus Demerath (All Souls Youth) are the organizers of this community-wide Climate Justice rally.

We work on many important issues as a congregation as a part of multiple partnerships working for social justice and change.

This issue, however, is the most urgent for all of us, and is already affecting people all over the world, including in our own state of Louisiana.

Building and Grounds Work Day — 14 September 2019

Please join us on Saturday (14 September 2019) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

We have several tasks available this week, most of them indoors! Check it out:

  • We need 2 people to remove and replace a small section of carpet in the blue bathroom.
  • We need LOTS of people to wash and clean the playground structures.
  • We need someone, or a few someones, to dust pulpit, pews, and altar table in the sanctuary, and clean chairs and tables in the classroom.
  • For the little ones, we need all of our old markers tested to see how many have bitten the dust.

Deborah Warren has volunteered to bring lunch for the crew.
For more information, call Earlene Venable at 318-205-9971.
Hope to see you Saturday!

Building and Grounds Work Day — 17 August 2019

We have postponed our monthly building and grounds work day to happen on 17 August 2019.  We will be there from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Because so many of our regular volunteers were also involved in last Saturday’s Board and Council Retreat, we are moving our usual second Saturday of the month building and grounds work day to the third Saturday of the month (17 August 2019) for this month only.

Mark your calendars — we hope to see you there.

Building and Grounds Work Day — 13 July 2019

Please join us on Saturday (13 July 2019) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

The work of maintaining the physical home of our faith community is done primarily by US, the members and friends of the congregation. Join us for the whole time, or just an hour or so if your Saturday is busy.

We have tasks both indoors and out, for all ages and levels of ability.
