Building and Grounds Work Day — 14 September 2019

Please join us on Saturday (14 September 2019) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

We have several tasks available this week, most of them indoors! Check it out:

  • We need 2 people to remove and replace a small section of carpet in the blue bathroom.
  • We need LOTS of people to wash and clean the playground structures.
  • We need someone, or a few someones, to dust pulpit, pews, and altar table in the sanctuary, and clean chairs and tables in the classroom.
  • For the little ones, we need all of our old markers tested to see how many have bitten the dust.

Deborah Warren has volunteered to bring lunch for the crew.
For more information, call Earlene Venable at 318-205-9971.
Hope to see you Saturday!

Building and Grounds Work Day — 17 August 2019

We have postponed our monthly building and grounds work day to happen on 17 August 2019.  We will be there from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Because so many of our regular volunteers were also involved in last Saturday’s Board and Council Retreat, we are moving our usual second Saturday of the month building and grounds work day to the third Saturday of the month (17 August 2019) for this month only.

Mark your calendars — we hope to see you there.

Building and Grounds Work Day — 13 July 2019

Please join us on Saturday (13 July 2019) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

The work of maintaining the physical home of our faith community is done primarily by US, the members and friends of the congregation. Join us for the whole time, or just an hour or so if your Saturday is busy.

We have tasks both indoors and out, for all ages and levels of ability.

Building and Grounds Work Day — 8 June 2019

Please join us on Saturday (8 June 2019) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

Most of the care and maintenance of our physical church home is done by us — the members and friends of All Souls.

This is a great opportunity for you not only to contribute to the stewardship of our surroundings and also to get to know your fellow church members and strengthen our community.

Come for the whole time or just an hour or two if that’s all you can spare.

And if your day’s too busy to stick around, consider dropping off snacks for the crew — see you this Saturday!

  • From:  Bennett Upton, President and Acting Secretary
  • To:  All Members, Inactive Members, and Friends

In accordance with the Bylaws of our church and as Secretary of the Board, I hereby announce that All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church will hold a Congregational Meeting in the sanctuary.

Date/Time: Sunday (19 May 2019) after the worship service

  • On the Agenda:
  • Elect four members of the board:
    • President — Bennett Upton
    • Treasurer — Rebecca Tuggle
    • 2 members at large — Cindy Mandarino and Ernie Cowger.
  • Elect members to the Committee on Ministry.
  • Re-evaluate the 2019 budget to determine choices to be made concerning staff summer employment.

Please make every effort to attend.

All active members should attend this meeting or give their proxies to those who can.

Inactive members and friends of the church are invited and encouraged to participate, but bylaws stipulate that only those members who have been active 30 days or longer may vote.

We must have a quorum — childcare provided.

Building and Grounds Work Day — 11 May 2019

Please join us on Saturday (11 May 2019) for our monthly building and grounds work day.

The work of our physical church home is mostly done by us — the members and friends of the congregation.

If the weather turns out to be severe, stay safe, but if it’s just a little wet and manageable, we can tackle some of the indoor tasks such as sprucing up classrooms, changing the hallway bulletin board, shredding old papers, etc.

Come and join us for the whole time if you’re available, or give as much time as you can.

If your day is too jammed with other stuff, consider dropping off some snacks for the crew.

Hazel Martin Memorial Service — Saturday, 27 April 2019

Friends and family of Hazel Martin will gather on Saturday (27 April 2019) at 3:30 PM in the sanctuary to celebrate her life (Hazel passed away on 10 March 2019 in Raleigh NC).

Hazel was a longtime active member of All Souls and a dedicated Unitarian Universalist at the district and national level as well.

A tribute to Hazel and her many contributions to church life is on page 2 of the April 2019 newsletter.

We will have a reception in the social hall for those in attendance immediately following the service.

We would appreciate more help with set-up and clean-up for that event and — if anyone can bring some nice cookies, pastries, or a fruit or veggie tray to go with the food we already have coming, that would be lovely.

Join us to welcome Hazel’s family and to celebrate a great life well lived!

2019 Pride in the Park Moved to Sunday (14 April 2019)

Due to adverse weather on Saturday (13 April 2019), PACE‘s annual Pride in the Park event has been moved to Sunday (14 April 2019).

The event will now be happening on Sunday (14 April 2019) from noon to 5:00 PM.

And the community-based Our Whole Lives Grades 10-12 sexuality education course that is hosted by All Souls will not meet on Sunday afternoon.

Many of our OWL class facilitators and youth participants will be attending Pride in the Park and promoting the Our Whole Lives values in their daily lives.

Building and Grounds Work Day Postponed to 20 April 2019

Due to adverse weather, our monthly building and grounds work day has been moved from this Saturday (13 April 2019) to next Saturday (20 April 2019).

Check back next week for more details for our rescheduled monthly building and grounds work day.

Building and Grounds Work Day — 9 March 2019

Please join us on Saturday (9 March 2019) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

Most of the work for our church home is done by us — the members and friends of All Souls.

Weather permitting — we’ll have tasks both outdoors and indoors.

But rain or shine, we’ll have jobs for all ages and abilities.

Come join us for the whole time, or just an hour or so if that’s all the time you have.  Every little bit helps.

Can’t stay this Saturday — consider dropping off some snacks for the work crew.
