Community Lighthouse Project — Caddo Parish Commission Meeting (8 June 2023)

Next Thursday (8 June 2023) at 3:30 PM, the Caddo Parish Commission will hold their regular meeting at Government Plaza in Shreveport, Louisiana.

North Louisiana Interfaith has asked the Caddo Parish Commission for $500,000 of seed funding to open two pilot locations of the Community Lighthouse Project.

Community Lighthouses are solar-powered resilience hubs where people can get warm (in winter), get cool (in summer), get water, and charge their phones and other devices when storms or ice have caused widespread power outages.

The Lighthouses will also be supported by a volunteer base of people who have learned the neighborhood and know where the needs are so portable batteries can be distributed where needed for medical devices.

Spring Congregational Meeting — Sunday, 28 May 2023

To: All Members, Inactive Members, and Friends

In accordance with the Bylaws of our church I hereby announce that All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church will hold a Congregational Meeting on Sunday (28 May 2023) at 12:00 PM or immediately following the 11:00 AM worship service in the sanctuary and via Zoom.

The agenda for this meeting will be the election of the 2023-2024 board

All active and inactive members and friends may attend.

Only active members of 30 days or longer may vote.

All active members should endeavor to attend or give their proxies to someone who can — we must have a quorum.

Proxy votes count in the election but do not count toward a quorum.

In accordance with the Bylaws of our church, and as Secretary of the Board, I hereby announce that All Souls will hold a Special Congregational Meeting on Sunday, 16 April 2023, immediately following the 11:00 AM worship service.

On the Agenda

  1. Approval of the Draft Minutes of the 5 March 2023 Congregational Meeting.
  2. A review of the budgetary realities presented at the 5 March 2023 Congregational Meeting, as detailed here in the Draft Minutes of that meeting.
  3. Discussion and vote on the potential sale of the current property at 9449 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport LA as recommended by the members of the Board.

We know this is a hard and emotional vote.  We encourage you to read the minutes of the last congregational meeting and to attend this meeting and let your voice be heard (either in person in the sanctuary or via Zoom.
