24 November 2013 Worship Service and Thanksgiving Feast

Please join us this Sunday at 10:30 AM for “A Service of Thanksgiving” — our annual Thanksgiving Worship and Feast.  Please note that there will be no religious education classes for children, youth, or adults for this week only.

The childcare nursery will open at 9:30 AM and the choir will rehearse at 9:45 AM.  Those who are helping set up for the potluck feast should arrive by 10:00 AM.

Religious education classes for children, youth, and adults will resume next Sunday (1 December 2013) at their regular 9:00 AM class time.

17 November 2013 Worship and Religious Education Classes

Please join us on Sunday (17 November 2013) at 10:30 AM for “Giving from Our Abundance, Because That’s What We Do” by Rev. Barbara Jarrell.

At our 9:00 AM Religious Education for All Ages, our adults will begin our new class — Understanding the Bible: A Guide for Skeptics, Seekers and Religious Liberals (based on the book of the same name by John Buehrens).  Our children and youth will continue with their exploration of Jewish and Christian heritage.

10 November 2013 Worship Service and Religious Education Classes

RevFristadPlease join us on Sunday (10 November 2013) at 10:30 AM for “Universalism: Past, Present and Powerful” by Rev. Kalen Fristad. Rev. Fristad is a Methodist Universalist minister and author of the book Destined for Salvation.  He will be speaking on the history and significance of Universalist theology.  Copies of Rev. Fristad’s book as well as his CDs and DVDs will be available for sale after the service.

At our 9:00 AM Religious Education hour, we will be presenting a Civic Academy from Northern and Central Louisiana Interfaith on the High Rate of Incarceration in Louisiana,and what we might do to stem that disturbing trend.  The children and youth continue their pillar on Jewish and Christian Heritage.  Next week (17 November 2013), the adults take up that focus as we begin the curriculum Understanding the Bible.

3 November 2013 Worship Service and Religious Education Classes

MosesPlease join us this Sunday (3 November 2013) at 10:30 AM for “The Story of Moses” — a dramatic presentation featuring Terry McNeil, John Allen, and Pamela Raintree.

We are continuing our liturgical season of “A Voice, A Vote, A Vocation” in celebration of our fifth principle (“We covenant to affirm and promote the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large”).

This morning in worship we celebrate not only our fifth principle but also our second and third sources as well as we look to the Hebrew scriptures to hear the story of the prophet Moses (who, reluctantly at first, became the voice of his people).

For our 9:00 AM Religious Education classes for all ages, our Adults will continue “Broadening Your Unitarian Universalist Understanding – Deepening Your Journey.” Children and youth will continue on their third Sunday in their pillar on Jewish and Christian Heritage.

Please join us on Sunday (20 October 2013) at 10:30 AM for “Expressions of Conscience” — a worship service featuring performing artists in celebration of our fifth principle (the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process) as well as a visual art show and sale in the Religious Education wing.

At 9:00 AM, we will be hold our religious education classes for all ages. The Adult Class — “Broadening Your Unitarian Universalist Understanding – Deepening Your Journey” — will continue.  Our children and youth will begin their pillar on Jewish and Christian Heritage.

13 October 2013 Worship Service and Sunday Brunch

FifthPrinciplePlease join us on Sunday (13 October 2013) at 10:30 AM for “A People of Conscience, A People of Covenant” — an all-ages celebration of our fifth Principle presented by the children, youth, and adults of All Souls.

At 9:00 AM before the worship service, please join us for a celebratory brunch in our regular religious education class time slot.  Bring your favorite breakfast or brunch dish to share — whether you make it yourself or grab it along the way.  Religious education classes will return next week (Sunday, 20 October 2013).

6 October 2013 Worship Service and Religious Education Classes

Please join us on Sunday (29 September 2013) at 10:30 AM for “Between Scylla and Charybdis” by Rev. Barbara Jarrell.  Barbara will be exploring the hard choices we sometimes encounter on the free and responsible search for truth and meaning.  We also will be welcoming our special musical guest Keith Grimwood of Trout Fishing in America.

At 9:30 AM, we will also continue on with our all-ages religious education classes for focusing on Unitarian Universalist identity and theology.

29 September 2013 Worship Service and Religious Education Classes

Please join us on Sunday (29 September 2013) at 10:30 AM for “Coming to America:  John Murray and Universalism in the New World.”  Come and meet the man largely responsible for the establishment of Universalism in America and hear the story of the accident that made that happen.  The All Souls Choir will sing.

At 9:30 AM, we will also continue on with our all-ages religious education classes for focusing on Unitarian Universalist identity and theology.
