FathersDaySnacksFor this Sunday (21 June 2015), Rovena and Boogie Windsor will be with the children and youth to prepare some snacks for our after-service coffee hour.

We’ll have a variety of delicious offerings, perfect for grabbing a bite after church yet light enough not to interfere with any Father’s Day plans that families may have for the afternoon.

All ages will be able to help with the preparation and offer this celebration to the entire church community.

Tie-Dye Sunday (14 June 2015)

TieDyeOur religious education activity during our 11:00 AM worship service will be our annual tie-dye for dads and other special grown-ups.

Children and youth are asked to bring a 100% cotton t-shirt or other fabric item for dyeing for their Dads or another special grown-up in their lives.  White or light colors are preferable.  They can also bring an extra garment for themselves, although we will make sure everyone gets to dye one thing before letting anyone start on second and third projects.  Other things that work well include socks, tote-bags, fabric hats, plain white bandanas, pillow cases, or any cotton item. 7 June 2015 Affirmation Sunday Worship Service

ToolboxOfFaithPlease join us on Sunday (7 June 2015) at 11:00 AM for “Digging Back into the Toolbox:  An Affirmation Sunday Celebration” led by the children, youth and adults of All Souls.

Our 2nd-5th Grade class has begun and ended the year with lessons adapted from a curriculum called Toolbox of Faith (which explores many of the qualities we employ to practice our faith as Unitarian Universalists and live better lives).

In a similar vein, the Middle School/High School class has spent this past pillar on Personal Spiritual Growth exploring Virtue Ethics (the various virtues at work in our lives that help us to make ethical decisions).

Meanwhile, our Pre-K/K-1 class has spent this pillar exploring all our various emotions.

So as we round out the year, it only makes sense that we open up the toolbox again and see what new tools have been added, and how we might use them.

Join us as we celebrate this capstone event as we find out more about what they’ve been learning and honor their transitions at the end of the church year.

7 June 2015 Adult Religious Education

TheGoodHeartDalaiLamaOur class continues this Sunday (7 June 2015) at 9:15 AM with discussions of The Good Heart:  A Buddhist Perspective on the Teachings of Jesus by the Dalai Lama.

This is our last session for this class.

This Sunday, we will read and reflect on John 20:10-18 (“The Resurrection” — Chapter 9 in The Good Heart).

In the class, we have a reading of the passage as translated for the Dalai Lama, followed by a period of silent meditation.

We then discuss our own thoughts on the reading as well as the Dalai Lama’s comments.

We still have five copies of the book available at the church for anyone who would like to read the book on your own.  They are $12.00, free, or any amount in between.

In other words, please don’t let money be an obstacle to your enjoyment of the book, and do feel free to join us for this last session of the class.

Each session stands well on its own, and you will not be “lost.”
