Northwest Louisiana Lighthouse Ribbon Cutting Ceremony (26 June 2025)

Join us for the official Ribbon Cutting of the second Community Lighthouse in Shreveport:

Community Lighthouses are a network of grid resilience hubs equipped with commercial-scale solar power and a backup water supply.

These hubs are designed to act as neighborhood response centers during power outages and emergencies.

Power ourages are the leading cause of death in the wake of a disaster: not the flood waters, the winds, or the ice. Community Lighthouses save lives!

Register to attend here — If you like, you can stay for the Highland Blessing Dinner following the ribboncutting ceremony.

No Kings Day in Shreveport (14 June 2025)

No Kings Day in Shreveport will happen on Saturday (14 June 2025) from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Caddo Parish Courthouse.

Join All Souls friends and other Northwest Louisiana folks in this nationwide day of protest in defense of the Constitution and the rule of law and also against the cruel treatment of immigrants, the obscene Kim Jong Un-style parade, and the unlawful use of our troops against our own citizens.

Pride in Due Process Protest Festival (28 June 2025)

Join us in an intersectional celebration of PRIDE on Saturday (28 June 2025) from 12 noon to 5:00 PM at All Souls.

This event brought to you by and various collaborating groups including All Souls.

The afternoon will feature speakers, table displays, music, games, and more.

As the sign says — Rights for Y’all Means Rights for All!

Don’t let them take your joy!  Come on out and connect with your community!

Tie-Dye Sunday (8 June 2025)

Our traditional kickoff to the summer and one of our favorite summer fun activities for children and youth is happening on 8 June 2025 during the worship service.

Tie-Dye Sunday is back!

Parents — be sure that your kids are wearing clothes that won’t get hurt during the tie-dye activities — the dyes are permanent!

We will have oversized t-shirts children can wear as smocks if needed, but it’s better to send them in something that can stand a little extra color on this Sunday.

Also, we usually have plenty of dye and grownups attending the service are welcome to join us afterward to create their own wearable work of art.

Update for All Souls Worship Video Library

The All Souls Sunday morning worship video library is moving from Facebook to YouTube.

Starting on 15 March 2020, All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church of Shreveport, Louisiana began to provide an online video of our Sunday morning worship services.

We did this to ensure that our members were safe during the initial COVID-19 pandemic.  An additional benefit of this was that we had a library of worship video recordings available for our members and friends.

Due to policy changes at Facebook, we can no longer rely on Facebook to host our library of past worship videos.

In June 2025, these video recordings will no longer be available.

And some of our 2025 worship videos are no longer available due to this policy change at Facebook and are sadly lost forever.

We are moving all available worship videos in our video library to the All Souls YouTube channel.

This will not happen overnight but we have started moving past worship videos to YouTube this week after saving backup copies of all available videos from 2020 to 2025.

Future worship video recordings will be posted to YouTube after each worship service.

Thanks for your patience and understanding while we are moving our video library to YouTube.

Donate a Banned Book to the Banned Book Bookshelf

Starting this Sunday (18 May 2025) and beyond — donate a banned book to our congregation’s banned book bookshelf dedicated to the memory of John Tuggle.

Thanks to our Board President Sally Wood (who was inspired by a gift of banned books from her daughter) we now have a banned books bookshelf in the sanctuary foyer waiting to be filled.

Please bring one or more banned books from your home library to donate to the bookshelf.

Want to find out what books have been banned?  Check out the American Library Association’s Banned Book Lists.

You may be surprised by some of the books on it and a Unitarian Universalist is probably going to have at least one banned book in their home library.

The Banned Books Bookshelf is dedicated to the memory of our own John Tuggle who (before his death in September 2024) was Director of the Shreve Memorial Library System and a fierce advocate for the right to read the books of our choosing, free from censorship by those who would rewrite history, and even write some of our fellow citizens out of existence.

Let’s work together to build this very fitting memorial to our friend John.
