Building and Grounds Work Day — 14 September 2019

Please join us on Saturday (14 September 2019) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

We have several tasks available this week, most of them indoors! Check it out:

  • We need 2 people to remove and replace a small section of carpet in the blue bathroom.
  • We need LOTS of people to wash and clean the playground structures.
  • We need someone, or a few someones, to dust pulpit, pews, and altar table in the sanctuary, and clean chairs and tables in the classroom.
  • For the little ones, we need all of our old markers tested to see how many have bitten the dust.

Deborah Warren has volunteered to bring lunch for the crew.
For more information, call Earlene Venable at 318-205-9971.
Hope to see you Saturday!

8 September 2019 Worship Service and Religious Education for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (8 September 2019) at 11:00 AM for  “Great Things They Have Taught Us. Great Things Can Be Done” by Rev Barbara Jarrell.

This is a service in celebration of those prophetic people of our two movements who have come before us, and our own responsibilities for living into their legacy.

We are delighted to announce that the service will feature music from Twang Darkly.

Religious education classes for children and youth are offered during the 11:00 AM service.  Children and youth attend the first 15-20 minutes of the service and then are dismissed to class.

Be sure to join us after the service for our annual swim party and potluck at the home of Kathy Osuch and Mike Roberts.

25 August 2019 Artist Sunday All-Ages Worship and Art Show/Sale

Please join us this Sunday (25 August 2019) for our annual Artist Sunday worship at 11:00 AM.  We will have a visual arts show and sale before and after this worship service as well (10:00 AM to 1:30 PM).
Join us for one of our most beloved services of the year.
Every element of the 11:00 service is some form of performing art — instrumental or vocal music, poetry or prose, dance, performance art, or sometimes even acrobatics, martial arts,  juggling or magic.
That same morning in the religious education wing, visual artists and artisans are invited to bring their work for show or sale.
Whether you paint, draw, sculpt, make jewelry, or however you create beauty, come and share that with our members and friends.

Building and Grounds Work Day — 13 July 2019

Please join us on Saturday (13 July 2019) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

The work of maintaining the physical home of our faith community is done primarily by US, the members and friends of the congregation. Join us for the whole time, or just an hour or so if your Saturday is busy.

We have tasks both indoors and out, for all ages and levels of ability.

Building and Grounds Work Day — 8 June 2019

Please join us on Saturday (8 June 2019) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

Most of the care and maintenance of our physical church home is done by us — the members and friends of All Souls.

This is a great opportunity for you not only to contribute to the stewardship of our surroundings and also to get to know your fellow church members and strengthen our community.

Come for the whole time or just an hour or two if that’s all you can spare.

And if your day’s too busy to stick around, consider dropping off snacks for the crew — see you this Saturday!

Rev. Dr. William Barber II and the Poor People’s Campaign will not be at All Souls on Friday (10 May 2019) at 10:00 AM.

Hazel Martin Memorial Service — Saturday, 27 April 2019

Friends and family of Hazel Martin will gather on Saturday (27 April 2019) at 3:30 PM in the sanctuary to celebrate her life (Hazel passed away on 10 March 2019 in Raleigh NC).

Hazel was a longtime active member of All Souls and a dedicated Unitarian Universalist at the district and national level as well.

A tribute to Hazel and her many contributions to church life is on page 2 of the April 2019 newsletter.

We will have a reception in the social hall for those in attendance immediately following the service.

We would appreciate more help with set-up and clean-up for that event and — if anyone can bring some nice cookies, pastries, or a fruit or veggie tray to go with the food we already have coming, that would be lovely.

Join us to welcome Hazel’s family and to celebrate a great life well lived!
