17 July 2016 Worship Service and Summer Fun for Children and Youth

labyrinthPlease join us on Sunday (17 July 2016) at 11:00 AM for “Companions for the Journey” with Jennifer Russell, Neill Normand, and Ron Thurston.

About four times each year, we hold “Companions for the Journey” worship services to feature reflections from our members.

Jennifer Russell, Neill Normand, and Ron Thurston will each speak to us about the spiritual journey that brought them to All Souls, and the reasons they stay.  Cherrie Groves Moussaoui is Worship Associate.

We will also have an installation of new board members and a thank you to those departing as well as a new member book signing ceremony.

The summer fun activity for children and youth for this Sunday will be yoga with Robin Drury.

Spring Congregational Meeting (22 May 2016)

On the agenda will be the election of the new board members.

Child care will be provided.

All of our business meetings are open to all.

Building and Grounds Work Day — 13 February 2016

Spring-Flowers-Feb-2016Please join us on Saturday (13 February 2016) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

Spring is starting to peek out here and there on the church grounds and the forecast for Saturday is “59 degrees and mostly sunny.”

So, it’s the perfect day to come out and join your All Souls friends to work together.

And if the great outdoors still isn’t calling you, there are plenty of tasks inside as well for all ages and abilities.

Remember that except for some basic cleaning and occasional major repairs, most of our building maintenance is done by the members and friends of All Souls.

Working side by side is a great way to get to build relationships and feel more a part of your All Souls community.  We hope to see you here.

Mitten Tree for Maggie Lee

PrintDon’t forget to bring mittens, socks, gloves, hats, scarves and other warm outerwear to decorate our Mitten Tree for Maggie Lee’s Closet — the children’s clothes closet at Highland Center Ministries.

The Mitten Tree will be in the Social Hall to make room for our guest musicians in the sanctuary, but it’s not too late to add a little more warmth for the kids who go to Maggie Lee’s Closet.

13 December 2015 Worship Service and Religious Education for Children and Youth

At 12:30 PM, we will have our congregational meeting where we will vote on our 2016 budget and elect 3 members to our nominating committee.

UPDATED — Congregational Meeting — Sunday, 13 December 2015

From: Kathy Osuch (Board Secretary)
To: All Members, Inactive Members, and Friends

In accordance with the Bylaws of our church and as Secretary of the Board, I hereby announce that All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church will hold a Congregational Meeting in the sanctuary.

New Date and Time: Sunday, 13 December 2015 at 12:30 PM

On the Agenda

  • Vote on 2016 Budget
  • Elect three members to the Nominating Committee

Please make every effort to attend.  All active members should attend this meeting or give their proxies to those who can.  Inactive members and friends of the church are invited and encouraged to participate but bylaws stipulate that only those members who have been active 30 days or longer may vote.

We must have a quorum.  Childcare will be provided.

Update — Please note that pledges for 2016 are about $30,000 less than they were for 2015.

As a result, there are many cuts to the budget and we will need volunteers to assist in making these changes possible.

The Director of Religious Education position is funded till the end of June 2016 based on current pledges.

If you have yet to make your pledge or would like to update your pledge information, please contact Board Treasurer Melissa Gibson at (318) 550-1296 or melissainkdesigns@gmail.com.

Building and Grounds Workday — 14 November 2015

RisingGreenPlease join us on Saturday (14 November 2015) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our monthly building and grounds work day.

Weather permitting, we will continue on the nature trail this Saturday along with the usual tasks — indoors and out.

Almost all of the work of our congregation is done by volunteers and working side by side with your All Souls friends can be a good way to get to know them better and to build community within the congregation.

Stay the whole time or just an hour or so.  If you can’t stay, consider dropping by some snacks for the crew.

Stewardship Kickoff Breakfast — Sunday, 25 October 2015

Please joins for our Stewardship Kickoff Breakfast this Sunday (25 October 2015) at 10:00 AM in the Social Hall at the church.

We’re getting closer to the season of giving as we kick off our 2016 Stewardship Campaign.

It’s time to think about what All Souls means to you and what you are able to give back in terms of time, talent, and treasure.

Members have found that when they give in all three ways — to the extent that they are able — they gain a greater sense of ownership in the church.

As Barbara reminds us each Sunday, this church is sustained in every way by its members — and that includes everything from singing in the choir to working on the Building and Grounds to paying the light bill.

  • What is your dream for our church?
  • More outreach?
  • More paid professional musicians to enhance our services?
  • All our building “quirks” magically fixed?
  • ________________ (Your dream here)?

Join us as we dream together and share a delicious breakfast.

If you have a particularly wonderful breakfast item you’d like to bring, or if you’d like to help in some other way, please contact Amanda Lawrence via email or via phone (318-402-3314).
