Adult Religious Education Taking a Break (9 April 2023)

Our adult religious education class is taking this Sunday off.

The class will not meet on Easter Sunday (9 April 2023).

We will resume at 9:00 AM on Sunday, 16 April 2023.

We will be trying a dual-platform class and will welcome participants in person in the social hall and also via Zoom.

Meditation with Larry Androes (8 April 2023)

Please join us on Saturday (8 April 2023) at 10:30 AM for our weekly meditation group with Larry Androes.

This is a sitting Buddhist meditation including a brief introduction to mindfulness meditation, 20 minutes of sitting, and followed by a weekly teaching.

Children and Youth Religious Education Classes — 2 April 2023

Children and youth will attend the worship service for the first 15-20 minutes and then are dismissed to their classes.

We are now discussing peace, social justice, and the interdependent web and these ideas connect to our Unitarian Universalist faith.

Elementary class with Ash McLain and Kevin Henry will designing a friendship banner that will later be used in the sanctuary.

Middle and High School Class with Noah Wagstaff and Dawn Subasic will continue their exploration of Allport’s Ladder of Prejudice — a timeline created by Gordon Allport using the timeline of the Holocaust to show how name calling leads to economic and legislative attacks that lead to physical attacks that can ultimately lead to genocide).  What are the patterns we see in the present day and how are we called to stand in integrity with our UU principles and values?

For this week’s class, the middle and high school youth will will watch the second half of the film Defying the Nazis:  The Sharps’ War — a documentary about the refugee work of the Rev. Waitstill Sharp and his wife Martha in the Lisbon office of the Unitarian Service Committee before and during World War II.

Online Adult Religious Education — 26 March 2023

Please join us on Sunday (26 March 2023) as we continue our new series in our our adult religious education class at 9:00 AM.

Our adult religious education class is still meeting via Zoom.

We have several persons in the adult religious education class who are new to our faith tradition and others who would like a chance to revisit the principles around that Unitarian Universalist congregations covenant to affirm and promote (including the eighth principle).

This Sunday, we will explore the current work of the Article II Study Commission of the UUA and what the principles may look like in the coming years.
