This week, we will take a quick look at progress (or the lack thereof) on the bills we’ve been tracking but our main focus of our time together will be our discussion of the introductory chapters and the first of the twelve steps — “Courageous Conversations” — in Patrice Cullor’s An Abolitionist’s Handbook.

Online and In-Person Adult Religious Education — 7 May 2023

Please join us on Sunday (7 May 2023) for our adult religious education class at 9:00 AM.

Our adult religious education class is now a dual-platform class — meeting in person in the church social hall and also on Zoom.

This week, we take a look at a few of the bills we are watching in the current Louisiana state legislature session — especially those affecting LGBTQIAP+ individuals and families, criminal justice, and the independence and integrity of classrooms and libraries.

We will also give some ideas for finding and following the bills that matter most to you and help us all to uphold the inherent worth and dignity of every person wherever possible.

We will also have a preview of An Abolitionist’s Handbook to decide if we want to read it together as a group.
