Announcements

No “New UU” Class This Week (15 November 2011)

There is no “New UU” class this week (Tuesday, 15 November 2011) due to the Board and Council Meetings.

Our next and last class in the series will be “The Meaning of Membership” (Tuesday, 22 November 2011, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM).

Also great for the not-so-wew member, this adult religious education class offers an overview of Unitarian Universalist history, religious education, polity and governance, and our tradition of social justice.

For this final class, we will celebrate our time together, discuss any remaining questions and explore the rights and responsibilities of membership.  This is a chance to learn more about our congregation and our faith, and to form closer relationships within a small group of fellow members and friends.  All sessions stand well on their own and are open to newcomers, although we do encourage you to take the complete series of classes when you can.  We will offer the class again in the spring.

Building and Grounds Work Day – 12 November 2011

This announcement comes from Patrick Early (Building and Grounds Co-Chair)

We will have a building and grounds work day this Saturday (12 November 2011) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

We have many routine tasks to be done, such as changing A/C filters, insuring the restrooms are clean and stocked, burnt out bulbs and fluorescent tubes are replaced, the sidewalks and patios are cleaned of leaves, etc.

In addition, we are planning to clean the playground in preparation for equipment repairs, we need to clean the church roof and the guttering of fall leaves and pine straw, we want to repair and maintain the nature trail and the pathway to the meditation deck.  The deck itself is in need of substantial maintenance work.

It is my intention to be there, but frankly right now I cannot do much, as my Doctor has ordered me to “Stay off your feet!” What I can do, I will.  I look forward to seeing you there.

Patrick Early,
Building and Grounds Co-Chair

Worship for Sunday, 6 November 2011

On Sunday (6 November 2011) at 11:00 AM, please join us for “Giving Back to the Future” by Robert Smith (All Souls Annual Canvass Chair) and Rev. Susan M. Smith (District Executive — Southwestern Conference of the Unitarian Universalist Association)

This service kicks off the annual pledge campaign by which we make the ministries of this church possible.  As we approach the season of giving and thanksgiving, it is time to reflect on how the generosity of the past serves us now and the legacy that we are creating in our own day.  In the week following this service, every member will have an opportunity to share with a canvasser what All Souls means to you and your dreams for its future.

Coming Sunday, 13 November 2011 — Claudia Harris.

Please join us this Sunday at 11:00 AM for the “The Feast of All Souls” — a service in celebration of our Unitarian Universalist heritage and those who have come before us.

At this time of the year, we remember and honor the dead, we pause to pay tribute to those “prophetic men and women” of every age on whose shoulders we stand.

And plan to join us afterward for Trunk or Treat after the 11:00 AM service.

Red River Radio Needs You!

The Pledge Drive is still happening at KDAQ and they may still need a few volunteers to work the phones on some shifts.

Volunteers who work a two-hour shift or more can help us to earn a day sponsorships for All Souls.

If you have any time to spare between now and 28 October 2011, please call Henry Edwards at 318-797-5154 and ask him to put you on the schedule.  Then when you sign in, be sure and write that you are working for All Souls.
