We will be meeting in the sanctuary for this worship service.  Please join us in person at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 9449 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport LA  71106 if you are able to do so.

The number of new COVID cases and hospitalizations has dropped in the Shreveport metro area where we are safe to return to in-person worship.

When we are in the sanctuary, we will continue to require proof of vaccination for all attendees ages 11 and up and the wearing masks for all.

We will continue to provide a livestream of the service for those who are not vaccinated or who cannot attend in person at 11:00 AM on Sunday.

Religious education classes for children and youth resumes this Sunday as well.  The children and youth will be with us for the first 15-20 minutes of the worship service before we sing them out to their classes.

While we are remaining physically distant, we want to know how you are doing, what you need, and what you are interested in.  You can let us know using these online surveys.

And you can contribute to All Souls using this online resource.

Online Adult Religious Education — 3 April 2022

Please join us on Sunday (3 April 2022) at 9:00 AM for our adult religious education class via Zoom.

This Sunday we begin our work through the book Me and White Supremacy by Layla F. Saad.

As the author says, “This is not a book you read, this is a book you do” and we will be discussing some of the journal prompts throughout the book.

Layla Saad is a black Muslim woman who was raised in the UK but who now lives in Qatar.  She has written, taught, and offered workshops to a global audience.

We will discuss the journal prompts for days 3, 4, and 5.

Children and Youth Religious Education (3 April 2022)

On this Sunday (3 April 2022), children and youth religious education classes will resume in person and will happen during our 11:00 AM worship service.

We will resume our pre-COVID practice where the children and youth will join us in the sanctuary for the first 15-20 minutes and then we will sing them out to their classes.

If your child does not want to go to class, that is also OK — our services are welcoming for all ages.

We will be starting out initially with two classes grouped by age / grade:

Elementary – Pre-K – 5th Grade (Teachers:  Ashford McLain and Kevin Henry) — Our theme is “Peace, Social Justice, and the Interdependent Web.”  This week, the group will continue to welcome newcomers and plan service projects in keeping with the Eight Principles of Unitarian Universalism.

Middle and High School (Teachers:  Ken Peterson and Eric First) — The group has made an initial plan for changes and additions to the classroom mural, and will meet with an artist on 10 April 2022 to further solidify those plans.  Meanwhile, input into the ongoing creative process is welcome and appreciated.  This week, the group will also be looking at Louisiana’s version of the “Don’t Say Gay” bill just passed in Florida and how they might register their views on it with its legislative sponsor.

Note — We have not yet brought back nursery care for our littlest members and visitors who cannot yet be vaccinated for COVID.  However, babies and toddlers are welcome to stay with their parents in the sanctuary.  We are very understanding about baby sounds in worship.

Easter Egg Hunt (17 April 2022)

We will have an Easter Egg Hunt immediately after the worship service on Sunday, 17 April 2022.

Parents and others are encouraged to donate a dozen or more filled plastic Easter eggs between now and Saturday (16 April 2022).  You may drop them off at the office door if no one is at the church.

Fill the eggs with candy, stickers, or small toys, and please do mark the eggs as safe for children under 3 or not.

For children under 3, do not include hard or chewy candy, gum, candy with nuts, or toys with small parts that could be choking hazards.
