1 September 2019 Worship Service and Summer Fun for Children and Youth
Please join us on Sunday (1 September 2019) at 11:00 AM for “Someone Else’s Truth” by Rev Barbara Jarrell.
“When galaxies collide, there are all sorts of consequences. And still, truth is bigger than all of that.”
You are going to want to know where this is going.
Our summer fun for children and youth will focus on the theme of “Love is the Doctrine of this Church.”
The children and youth will talk together about what that means and then work together on a collaborative art project that supports that theme.
And it’s also Green Bag Sunday for Noel United Methodist Food Pantry ! Bring your bag (any color bag!) this Sunday with one or more of the following items:
- Jiffy Cornbread Mix (8.5 oz.)
- Green Beans (15-16 oz. can)
- Mac and Cheese (7.25 oz. box)
Place them in the hatch of the green Kia Soul that will be parked up by the front breezeway and JoDel Adkins will make sure they get to the food pantry this week.
No Adult Religious Education Class This Sunday (1 September 2019)
25 August 2019 Artist Sunday All-Ages Worship and Art Show/Sale
Please join us this Sunday (25 August 2019) for our annual Artist Sunday worship at 11:00 AM. We will have a visual arts show and sale before and after this worship service as well (10:00 AM to 1:30 PM).
Join us for one of our most beloved services of the year.Every element of the 11:00 service is some form of performing art — instrumental or vocal music, poetry or prose, dance, performance art, or sometimes even acrobatics, martial arts, juggling or magic.
That same morning in the religious education wing, visual artists and artisans are invited to bring their work for show or sale.
Whether you paint, draw, sculpt, make jewelry, or however you create beauty, come and share that with our members and friends.

Please join us on Sunday (25 August 2019) at 9:15 AM for our adult religious education class — “Faith Like a River: Themes in Unitarian Universalist History” with Bennett Upton and Jax Schmidt.
Join Bennett and Jax for this workshop series exploring “the dynamic course of Unitarian, Universalist, and Unitarian Universalist (UU) history-the people, ideas, and movements that have shaped our faith heritage.”
This week — “The Seven Seas: Globalization”:
The best religionists are broad instead of bigoted, and they are open and compassionate and kind. In a town and in the world they build bridges more than walls or fences or moats. – Dana McLean Greeley, first president of the UUA (1961-1969)
Unitarian Universalism has enjoyed contact and engagement with people from many religions and cultures through much of its history. This workshop presents representative stories of different ways people in our religious tradition have related to other religious traditions and cultures.
Participants explore ways this engagement has enriched our movement through dialogue and cooperative action, and consider ways Unitarian Universalism may have enriched the cultures and traditions of others.
18 August 2019 Worship Service and Summer Fun for Children and Youth
Please join us on Sunday (18 August 2019) at 11:00 AM for “Transcending What? Balancing Life and Spirit” by Rev. Barbara Jarrell.
In this worship, we will be exploring our first source — “Direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in all cultures, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openness to the forces that create and uphold life.”
This week’s summer fun activity for children and youth will be making stepping stones with Kevin Henry and Tena Hines.
The children and youth will be making decorative stepping stones for placement either at the church or at their own homes.

As Unitarian Universalists, we face the challenge and opportunity to embrace those with different experiences, perspectives, and ways of being in the world. As Unitarians, Universalists, and Unitarian Universalists, we have at times in our history followed societal norms in our willingness or reluctance to welcome diversity. At other times, we have confronted and refuted the accepted ways-sometimes our own accepted ways-in order to embrace diversity and invite it to transform us. This workshop explores stories of multicultural encounter from our tradition; some are inspiring, and some ask us to examine past actions with candor and compassion.
Artist Sunday — 25 August 2019
Building and Grounds Work Day — 17 August 2019
We have postponed our monthly building and grounds work day to happen on 17 August 2019. We will be there from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Because so many of our regular volunteers were also involved in last Saturday’s Board and Council Retreat, we are moving our usual second Saturday of the month building and grounds work day to the third Saturday of the month (17 August 2019) for this month only.
