9 December 2018 Worship Service and Religious Education for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (9 September 2018) at 11:00 AM for “One World, Two Pockets, and Three Traditions” by  Rev. Barbara Jarrell.

Rev. Jarrell revisits the story of Rabbi Simcha Bunim and how his story still grants us a much-needed perspective over 200 years later.

We will have a newcomer information session immediately following the service.  Childcare will be provided.

Religious education classes for children and youth are offered during the 11:00 AM service.  Children and youth attend the first 15-20 minutes of the service and then are dismissed to class.

2019 Pledge Campaign

It’s also that time to turn in your pledge for 2019.

Please turn in your pledge forms no later than this Sunday (9 December 2018) so that the Finance Committee can prepare a budget to present at the Congregational Meeting on 16 December 2018.

If you can’t get a form in before then, please take a few minutes to email your pledge amount to Interim Treasurer Melissa Gibson using melissainkdesigns@gmail.com.

In accordance with the Bylaws of our church and as Secretary of the Board, I hereby announce that All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church will hold a Congregational Meeting in the sanctuary.

  • Vote on 2019 Budget
  • Elect three members to Nominating Committee

Please make every effort to attend.  All active members should attend this meeting or give their proxies to those who can attend.

Inactive members and friends of the church are invited and encouraged to participate, but bylaws stipulate that only those members who have been active 30 days or longer may vote.

We must have a quorum.

All Souls has announced a Capital Campaign for $10,000 running through the end of 2018.

For more than 70 years, All Souls has provided a home for liberal religion in Northwest Louisiana.

The church currently hosts a variety of activities, including Sunday services, adult and children’s religious education, Eastern meditation, yoga, and more.

All Souls is proud to be a Welcoming Congregation (a Unitarian Universalist denominational program for congregations that have done additional study and discernment around issues related to bisexual, gay, lesbian, and transgender equality).

Our “Give Away the Plate” recipient for December 2018 is Queensborough Progressive Citizens.

Religious education classes for children and youth are offered during the 11:00 AM service.  Children and youth attend the first 15-20 minutes of the service and then are dismissed to class.

Give Away the Plate for December 2018

Our “Give Away the Plate” recipient for December 2018 is Queensborough Progressive Citizens (QPC).

QPC is an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for citizens of the Queensborough neighborhood of Shreveport.

For December 2018, we are returning to the practice of devoting all the non-pledge income for one Sunday a month to a selected non-profit.

As we make this transition, please know that for any Sunday you want to donate to QPC, just put the money in an envelope and indicate that.

If you are writing one check, indicate in the memo line the amounts to go to pledge and QPC respectively.

Our Whole Lives Grades 10-12 Sexuality Education Parent Orientation (3 December 2018)

NOW (National Organization for Women) Shreveport – Bossier and All Souls in partnership are offering a parent / caregiver orientation for the Our Whole Lives (OWL) comprehensive sexuality education curriculum for grades 10-12.

This orientation will happen on Monday (3 December 2018) from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at All Souls

If you are a parent or adult caregiver / guardian of a high school-age youth in grades 10-12 (ages 15-18), we invite you to come and learn from our trained facilitators about the OWL program.

We we will be offering to youth from All Souls and the wider community after the first of the year.
