Please join us on Sunday (16 December 2012) at 11:00 AM for “Darkness and Light and All the Fixings” by Rev. Barbara Jarrell. This service will also feature the music of Twang Darkly and the All Souls Choir.
Please note that Twang Darkly will be selling copies of their new album (Mojo Fix) after the service.
Stay after the service for the Congregational Meeting beginning at 12:30 PM.
During the meeting, the children and youth (with adult help) will be wrapping the gifts for the children of Community Support. Be sure to bring those in by this Sunday if at all possible, and no later than Wednesday morning, when we will wrap the remainder.
In June 2010, General Assembly (GA) delegates from UU congregations across the nation selected “Immigration as a Moral Issue” for our denominational study/action issue from 2010 through 2014.
Much of this social justice work has been distilled into a draft Statement of Conscience that will be voted upon by the 2013 GA delegates. However, the UUA has also provided opportunities for congregations to comment on the draft statement before it is voted upon at GA. Please join us this Sunday (9 December 2012) at 11:00 AM for our recurring “Companions for the Journey” Worship Service.
This is a quarterly service wherein three members of the church share the spiritual journeys that brought them to our doors and the reasons they stay. We will hear Aria Chatman, Jason Drury, and Pat Knotts.
And please join us immediately following the service for the Monster Cookie Swap.
In accordance with the bylaws of our church, and as Secretary of the Board, I hereby announce that All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church will hold a Congregational Meeting.
On the Agenda:
Please make every effort to attend. Childcare provided.
All active members should attend this meeting or give their written proxies to those who can. We must have a quorum.
Inactive members and friends of the church are invited and encouraged to participate, but bylaws stipulate that only those members who have been active 30 days or longer may vote.
Please join us on 22 December 2012 at 7:00 PM at the home of Laurie Lyons and Henry Walker (441 Drexel Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana).
To reduce the workload of everyone, this year’s party will be hors d’oeuvres — appetizers — finger food and dessert rather than a full meal, so please bring one of these items.
Wine, beer and soft drinks will be provided.
Please RSVP to Laurie Lyons by Monday (17 December 2012).
This party is for adults only so parents can take a breather from their adorable, but active, children.
Important — Please label any items that contain nuts, as Henry is highly allergic. Peanuts are legumes, so your typical peanut is just fine. Just watch out for those walnuts, pecans, and the like. Thank you.
The 2012 Monster Cookie Swap is 9 December 2012 immediately after the 11:00 AM Worship Service.
Bring a couple dozen cookies to swap out. Make one recipe and take home loads of different kinds of cookies!
Don’t bake? Even better..make a donation to All Souls in lieu of providing cookies. Or do both (That’s cool too)!
There are always tons of cookies available — treat yourself to dessert or use them as neighbor/teacher gifts!
Please joins us on Saturday (8 December 2012) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM — Projects outside and inside –All are welcome!
If you have questions, contact Patrick Early (Building and Grounds Committee Chair) before and after church, by phone (318-734-0282), or by email.
By now you have probably heard from your friendly pledge steward, and you’ve had a bit of time to consider your own finances, your sense of ownership in the church, and the different kinds of gifts that you bring to our faith community and receive from being a part of it.
Please make every effort to get your pledge form turned in by this Sunday (9 December 2012). The Finance Committee will be meeting on Tuesday (11 December 2012) to determine the 2013 budget.
Many thanks for your support of the church!
Please join us this Sunday (2 December 2012) for our 11:00 AM Worship Service. The sermon will be “When Inside and Outside Agree” by Rev. Barbara Jarrell.
Immediately after the worship service, we will have a newcomer information session.
