At 9:30 AM, we will have our Religious Education classes for all ages.

Our Children and Youth will continue on in their Pillar on Peace, Social Justice and the Interdependent Web by focusing on our Second, Sixth and Seventh Principles and our Second Source (more information on our Principles and Source can be found here).

UnderstandingTheBible Our adults will continue with the “Understanding the Bible: A Guide for Skeptics, Seekers and Religious Liberals” class (based on Rev. John Buehrens’ book by the same name).

Fuller Center Building 50th House in Shreveport

In partnership with Asbury United Methodist Church, The Fuller Center looks forward to breaking ground on the Barry Hughes House in Katy’s Corner.

This weekend, Asbury UMC and The Fuller Center along with many other partners will break ground on The Barry Hughes House in the Scott-Dickerson neighborhood of Bossier City.

This special build is a way to honor the life of Katy Watkins and the spiritual guidance she received from Rev. Dr. Barry E. Hughes by performing acts of service and giving to others.  However, we still need volunteers to make it all happen!

To volunteer, please go to Asbury’s volunteer website and follow the instructions to register for the KATY II Build.

Please note, that all construction volunteers must be age 18 or older.  Younger groups wanting to help with site cleanup can contact Angela Pfanner at 746-5349.

1 February 2014 Media Sale

Please join us on Saturday (1 February 2014) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for our media sale.  Here’s what might happen:

  • You have the perfect opportunity to reduce, reuse and recycle.
  • You finally find the DVD of that wonderful, obscure indy film you’ve been seeking for years, or the one book by your favorite author that you never got around to reading, or that perfectly functional little TV or radio you can put in the kitchen.
  • The church makes a little money — everybody wins — what’s not to love?

It’s still not too late to donate your unwanted media items, including books, CDs, DVDs, TVs, cameras, stereos, radios, media players of all sorts.  Bring them by the church on Friday (31 January 2014) between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

Questions?  Contact Kathy Osuch via email or phone (318-861-6729).

19 January 2014 Worship and Religious Education Classes

SSL-468x60On Sunday (19 January 2014) at 9:00 AM in honor of the birthday celebration of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, All Souls will host a Social Justice Fair in conjunction with our Sunday service.  Local organizations working for justice in various arenas are invited to have a table in the Social Hall to distribute literature, to promote the work of your organization, and to network with others.

For our 10:30 AM worship service, retired Shreveport civil rights attorney Henry Walker will speak on “Foxes in the Hen House” which discusses the civil rights issues currently confronting our community, our state and our nation.  Henry is always an inspiring speaker and will help you get recharged for the work ahead as we begin 2014.

Focusing on our Third Source, the children and youth begin their pillar on World Religions this Sunday.  The Social Justice Fair will begin at 9:00 AM in lieu of our adult religious education hour and will continue after the 10:30 service — ending between 12:00 PM and 12:30 PM.
