All Ages Worship (16 July 2023)

Please join us on Sunday (16 July 2023) at 11:00 AM for “Schadenfreude, Freudenfreude.  Afraid of ‘Freude,’ Freed in ‘Freude.'” by Rev. Barbara Jarrell.

We will be meeting in the sanctuary for this worship service.  Please join us in person at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 9449 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport LA  71106 if you are able to do so.

Our service will also be livestreamed on Facebook Live here if you cannot attend in person.

The current COVID risk for the Shreveport metro area (Caddo Parish, Bossier Parish, DeSoto Parish) is now “unknown” for the COVIDActNow website.

However, the risk for Caddo, Bossier and De Soto Parishes are all low — the CDC does not recommend mandatory masking for all indoor events in “low” risk areas.

See the CDC website and the COVIDActNow website for more details.

Starting on 13 November 2022, masks will be optional indoors at All Souls.

Anyone who prefers to keep wearing a mask is welcome to do so and attending worship through livestream video is also an option.

We will still have KN95 masks available in the foyer for anyone who needs one.

We continue to recommend that you stay home if you have any symptoms, and that you keep up with all available vaccinations and boosters.

Please use this link to evaluate the current COVID risk for the Shreveport-Bossier City metro area as you make your decisions regarding masking and other COVID preventive measures while attending All Souls.

We no longer require proof of vaccination against COVID for all attendees ages 11 and up for indoor events.

However, we do strongly encourage that anyone attending our worship services or other indoor events at All Souls be vaccinated against COVID.

Please use good judgment and stay home if you have any symptoms.  Even those who have tested negative for COVID can later test positive.

Our July 2023 give-away-the-plate recipient is the North Louisiana Interfaith.

All Ages Worship and Sunday Brunch (25 June 2023)

Please join us on Sunday (25 June 2023) at 9:30 AM for brunch and at 10:00 AM for a group viewing of the Sunday morning worship at this Sunday’s Unitarian Universalist General Assembly.

You can use this link to watch this worship service at home.

Join us to be part of the largest annual gathering of Unitarian Universalists worshipping together — streaming live from this year’s General Assembly  Meeting in Pittsburgh PA.

Rev. Manish Mishra-Marzetti (Pittsburgh native and Senior Minister of the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor MI) will lead the service on the theme of “Ever Willing: Becoming the People Our World Needs.”

From the UUA GA program:

The pandemic has wrought change and created uncertainty for institutions, like our Unitarian Universalist congregations, and our wider world.  Who and what are we becoming, individually and collectively?  Our GA Sunday service explores these themes as we gather in community to celebrate the best of who we UUs are.

There is no children and youth religious education this Sunday but there will be art materials available for all ages who would like something to do with their hands while they watch the service.

All Ages Worship (18 June 2023)

Please join us on Sunday (18 June 2023) at 11:00 AM for “Dad Jokes:  Humor as a Spiritual Tool in the Parenting Toolbox” with John Allen, Amanda Lawrence, and Susan Caldwell.

Dad jokes, amiright?  The worse, the better.  You will more than likely hear a few of those this Sunday and also perhaps hear and share some stories of how you or your own parents have used humor as a way of lightening a tense moment or smoothing away the rough edges.

Our elementary class has done a curriculum this year by Katie Covey called Toolbox of Faith in which humor is called the “sandpaper” in the toolbox for that reason.

We’ll also take some time in the service to acknowledge that this is also Juneteenth weekend — the second year this day in our nation’s history has been set aside as a federal holiday.

We will be meeting in the sanctuary for this worship service.  Please join us in person at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 9449 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport LA  71106 if you are able to do so.

All Ages Worship (11 June 2023)

Please join us on Sunday (11 June 2023) at 11:00 AM for “Focusing on the Obvious” by Rev. Joy Walker.

Most of us get so caught up with information fed to us by our eyes, nose, ears, mouth and hands that we sometimes miss a very promising blessing.

Joy suggests that we stop focusing on the obvious saying:

“Focusing in this way causes us to become crystalized in our thinking. Instead, begin practicing deep listening and observation with an open mind, an open heart and non-judgment. This change of focus will assist us greatly in expanding our vision and increasing effectiveness in all areas of our life.”

Children and youth will have our annual Tie-Dye Sunday in the religious education wing with Ash McLain and Kathy Osuch.  Additional adult help welcome, and adults are welcome to tie-dye garments of their own after church.

We will be meeting in the sanctuary for this worship service.  Please join us in person at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 9449 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport LA  71106 if you are able to do so.
