Worship for Sunday, 6 November 2011

On Sunday (6 November 2011) at 11:00 AM, please join us for “Giving Back to the Future” by Robert Smith (All Souls Annual Canvass Chair) and Rev. Susan M. Smith (District Executive — Southwestern Conference of the Unitarian Universalist Association)

This service kicks off the annual pledge campaign by which we make the ministries of this church possible.  As we approach the season of giving and thanksgiving, it is time to reflect on how the generosity of the past serves us now and the legacy that we are creating in our own day.  In the week following this service, every member will have an opportunity to share with a canvasser what All Souls means to you and your dreams for its future.

Community Meeting on Water Resource Management

On Wednesday (9 November 2011) at 5:30 PM, the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources is hosting a series of meetings across the state on Ground Water Resource Management.

These meetings aim to provide information on the state’s past and current ground water resources management practices and the draft recommendations for a state ground water plan.

At this time of the year, we remember and honor the dead, we pause to pay tribute to those “prophetic men and women” of every age on whose shoulders we stand.

And plan to join us afterward for Trunk or Treat after the 11:00 AM service.

Coming Next Week — Trunk or Treat!!

Our annual whole-church celebration of Halloween is Sunday, 30 October 2011, immediately after the 11:00 AM worship service.

Members will decorate their cars for Halloween — we’ll have Trick or Treat for the children and a “Trick or Treat Potluck” for everyone!

So dress up in your scariest (or your fanciest)  costume, decorate your car, bring some treats for the kids, and a dish to pass — we will celebrate Halloween in style!

Red River Radio Needs You!

The Pledge Drive is still happening at KDAQ and they may still need a few volunteers to work the phones on some shifts.

Volunteers who work a two-hour shift or more can help us to earn a day sponsorships for All Souls.

“Out of the Darkness” Suicide Prevention Walk — 22 October 2011

It’s not too late to donate!  And it’s not too late to register to walk with us this Saturday (22 October 2011) at 10:00 AM (Southern Hills Park, Shreveport, Louisiana),

The team will meet at 9:00 AM at the playground.

Shreveweave (the All Souls chapter of Interweave Continental) is participating as a team in the Shreveport Out of the Darkness Walk sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).

Bisexual, gay, lesbian, and transgender adolescents commit suicide at a higher rate than their straight peers and Shreveweave is proud to be fielding a team to raise money for AFSP.
