Adult Religious Education — 16 September 2018

Please join us on Sunday (16 September 2018) at 9:15 AM for our adult religious education class.

This fall, we’re excited to introduce Faith Forward — a multi-part adult religious education series that will not only introduce visitors and new members to our faith but will also help those who’ve been here awhile to deepen their faith journeys.

We begin UU History 101 with a look at two of our Unitarian forebears — the 16th Century Spanish heretic Michael Servetus and the early 19th century American preacher and theologian William Ellery Channing.

Child care will be provided — See you then.

This fall, we’re excited to introduce Faith Forward — a multi-part adult religious education series that will not only introduce visitors and new members to our faith but will also help those who’ve been here awhile to deepen their faith journeys.

You will have a chance to ask questions and let us know what you’d most like to learn about our faith tradition.  Child care will be provided — See you there.

Give Away the Plate for September 2019

We have changed the way we do our Give Away the Plate donations each month.

Instead of taking up just one collection per month, we are giving half of our non-pledge income each week to one organization for the entire month.

This month’s Give Away the Plate is going to Northern and Central Louisiana Interfaith to help pay the dues we have pledged as a member organization.

Interfaith has been a highly effective partnership of congregations and other organizations working together to create real change in our community and throughout our state as an affiliate of Together Louisiana and the Industrial Areas Foundation.

26 August 2018 Worship Service and Summer Fun for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (26 August 2018) at 11:00 AM for “That’s Part of the Ocean, Too” by Rev. Barbara Jarrell.

Our annual  water communion service is an “end of summer reunion” where we bring water from our various  summer experiences to pour into a common vessel as we briefly share our stories of the water we’ve brought.

Your water may come from far away or it may be from a puddle in your backyard or your kiddie pool or your kitchen sink.

And we will have symbolic water on hand if you forget to bring yours.

The water is boiled, filtered, and frozen, and used for baby dedications, naming ceremonies and other rites of passage (this is for ceremonial use and not for drinking).

Following the service, we will have our annual end of Summer swim party and potluck at the home of Kathy Osuch and Mike Roberts (address will be available on the Caring Connection and Religious Education Facebook groups and on a flyer at the church — you can also email Kathy for the information).

Bring an appetizer,  side dish or dessert to share.  We will provide a main course to be announced, with carnivore and vegetarian options.
