All-Ages Worship (25 September 2022)

Please join us this Sunday (25 September 2022) at 11:00 AM for “What Do You Mean, ‘Happy New Year?'” with Rev. Barbara Jarrell and Barbara Deger.

This is a service honoring Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year.

We will be meeting in the sanctuary for this worship service.  Please join us in person at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 9449 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport LA  71106 if you are able to do so.

Our service will also be livestreamed on Facebook Live here if you cannot attend in person.

Although the number of new COVID cases and hospitalizations has increased in the Shreveport metro area, we are still safe to have to in-person worship at this time.

We no longer require proof of vaccination against COVID for all attendees ages 11 and up for indoor events.

However, we do strongly encourage that anyone attending our worship services or other indoor events at All Souls be vaccinated against COVID.

We are also required the wearing of masks for all in-person attendees for all indoor events.

Religious education classes for children and youth resumes this Sunday as well.  The children and youth will be with us for the first 15-20 minutes of the worship service before we sing them out to their classes.

Our September 2022 give-away-the-plate recipient is Highland Center Ministries.

And you can contribute to All Souls using this online resource.

Next Week — Blessing of the Animals (2 October 2022)

On 2 October 2022 at 11:00 AM, we will have our annual Blessing of the Animals worship service.

All of our animal friends are invited to join us in the sanctuary for a special service celebrating our shared home in the interdependent web of all existence.

Bring your furry, feathered, scaled, or finned friends — 4-legged, more-legged, or no-legged — into the sanctuary to celebrate with us.

Please bring all pets on leashes or in carriers (even the most docile pets can react unpredictably in new surroundings).

Stuffed animals and pictures of your pets are also most welcome.

The service will include a memorial for the pets we’ve lost.

For more information, contact Jennifer Russell.

Online Adult Religious Education — 25 September 2022

Please join us on Sunday (25 September 2022) at 9:00 AM for “WhUU Dat (yeah, we did that . . . join us anyway)” via Zoom and facilitated by Susan Caldwell and Barbara Deger.

This Sunday we will continue our exploration of Unitarian Universalist theology by taking time to explore how we express ourselves when talking about our faith to others.

Children and Youth Religious Education for 25 September 2022

As the church year begins, our classes will be meeting separately for activities and discussion around our Unitarian Universalist principles and how they fit into our history and our daily lives.

For most weeks, they will be joining together for part of the hour to continue work on the updated mural in the middle and high school room.

PreK – 5th Grade — The group will continue the Toolbox of Faith series this week — focusing on the duct tape — a symbol of flexibility. Flexibility is a vital tool of the spiritual life.

Middle and High School — The group will continue their exploration of the prophetic people of our faith and continue their work on the mural.
