Online Adult Religious Education — Slave State Documentary Screening (2 October 2022)

Please join our adult religious education class on Sunday (2 October 2022) at 9:00 AM for a screening of the documentary film Slave State followed by a Q and A session with Slave State author Curtis Davis.  Our adult class will be meeting via Zoom.

This is a documentary film inspired by the book Slave State:  Evidence of Apartheid in America by Curtis Ray Davis II.

All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church is honored to host a screening of this documentary film.  This is an encore screening for those who could not attend our live audience screening last Saturday.

This is Policy Films first film of this length — produced in collaboration with the non-profit organization Decarcerate Louisiana.

The documentary highlights the grassroots movement by Decarcerate Louisiana to sponsor Louisiana legislation to remove slavery from the state constitution with the help of State Rep. Edmond Jordan of District 29.

Come and learn how slavery still exists in Louisiana along with the importance of voting yes on Amendment 7 on 8 November 2022 to abolish slavery in our state.

26 June 2022 UUA General Assembly Sunday Worship

We did not have an in-person worship service on Sunday, 26 June 2022.

Since church staff and church members were attending the 2022 Unitarian Universalist General Assembly (GA) in Portland, Oregon, we had an all-ages potluck and watched the livestream video of the Sunday GA worship from Portland instead.

You can watch the GA worship service here:

All-Ages Worship (11 September 2022)

Please join us this Sunday (11 September 2022) at 11:00 AM for the presentation of the 2022 Emerson Award to Kathaleen Pittman (Executive Director — Hope Medical Group for Women).

We honor Kathaleen for her years of service and unyielding dedication to the rights of all people to plan their families as they choose and to seek abortion care as needed.

The Emerson Award is given annually by our congregation to the individual or organization in the wider community whose life and work best exemplify the values and principles of liberal religion.

We will be meeting in the sanctuary for this worship service.  Please join us in person at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 9449 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport LA  71106 if you are able to do so.

Our service will also be livestreamed on Facebook Live here if you cannot attend in person.

Although the number of new COVID cases and hospitalizations has increased in the Shreveport metro area, we are still safe to have to in-person worship at this time.

We no longer require proof of vaccination against COVID for all attendees ages 11 and up for indoor events.

However, we do strongly encourage that anyone attending our worship services or other indoor events at All Souls be vaccinated against COVID.

We are also required the wearing of masks for all in-person attendees for all indoor events.

Religious education classes for children and youth resumes this Sunday as well.  The children and youth will be with us for the first 15-20 minutes of the worship service before we sing them out to their classes.

Our September 2022 give-away-the-plate recipient is Highland Center Ministries.
