16 September 2018 Worship Service and Religious Education for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (16 September 2018) at 11:00 AM for “We Begin Again in Love” by Rev. Barbara Jarrell.

This service includes a burning ceremony for letting go of past regrets and recriminations and beginning anew.

Our “Give Away the Plate” recipient for September 2019 is Northern and Central Louisiana Interfaith.

Religious education classes for children and youth are offered during the 11:00 AM service.  Children and youth attend the first 15-20 minutes of the service and then are dismissed to class.

Adult Religious Education — 16 September 2018

Please join us on Sunday (16 September 2018) at 9:15 AM for our adult religious education class.

This fall, we’re excited to introduce Faith Forward — a multi-part adult religious education series that will not only introduce visitors and new members to our faith but will also help those who’ve been here awhile to deepen their faith journeys.

We begin UU History 101 with a look at two of our Unitarian forebears — the 16th Century Spanish heretic Michael Servetus and the early 19th century American preacher and theologian William Ellery Channing.

Child care will be provided — See you then.

9 September 2018 Worship Service and Religious Education for Children and Youth

Please join us on Sunday (9 September 2018) at 11:00 AM for “Repent, Reboot: Unitarian Universalism, the Jewish New Year, and Preparation for What Lies Ahead” by Rev. Barbara Jarrell.

We mark the turning of the year in the Jewish tradition as we consider the possibilities of offering and asking forgiveness along with what a new start can really mean.

Our “Give Away the Plate” recipient for September 2019 is Northern and Central Louisiana Interfaith.

Religious education classes for children and youth are offered during the 11:00 AM service.  Children and youth attend the first 15-20 minutes of the service and then are dismissed to class.

Our adult religious education classes resume this Sunday (9 September 2018) at 9:15 AM.

Adult Religious Education — 9 September 2018

Please join us on Sunday (9 September 2018) at 9:15 AM as our adult religious education returns from its summer break.

This fall, we’re excited to introduce Faith Forward — a multi-part adult religious education series that will not only introduce visitors and new members to our faith but will also help those who’ve been here awhile to deepen their faith journeys.

This morning, we begin with “Roots” — an overview of Unitarian Universalist values, ideals, and history that will be valuable for newcomers and longtime UUs alike.

You will have a chance to ask questions and let us know what you’d most like to learn about our faith tradition.  Child care will be provided — See you there.

2 September 2018 Worship Service and Religious Education for Children and Youth

Welcome back to the first Sunday of the church year when we turn our focus to Unitarian Universalist history, heritage, and identity.

This is also the beginning of the Religious Education year for children and youth.

Religious education classes for children and youth are offered during the 11:00 AM service.  Children and youth attend the first 15-20 minutes of the service and then are dismissed to class.

Adult Religious Education will begin next week (9 September 2018) at the regular time — 9:15 AM.

Give Away the Plate for September 2019

We have changed the way we do our Give Away the Plate donations each month.

Instead of taking up just one collection per month, we are giving half of our non-pledge income each week to one organization for the entire month.

This month’s Give Away the Plate is going to Northern and Central Louisiana Interfaith to help pay the dues we have pledged as a member organization.

Interfaith has been a highly effective partnership of congregations and other organizations working together to create real change in our community and throughout our state as an affiliate of Together Louisiana and the Industrial Areas Foundation.
